I was more than annoyed to see her on the front row with Hayden and Milo on the 2nd. Why exactly? She hasn't appeared in 1 ep, but she's front and center, giving interviews on the red carpet. It rubbed me as being famewhorish.
Never saw her hanging out with the VM cast the way she hangs with the Heroes cast, and she worked/lived with those people for almost 3 years.

It's also possible that PR appearances are in her new contract, and that refusing to give interviews or trying to stay apart from last season's cast members would attract more attention than just playing the game. If the producers of Heroes didn't want her there, she wouldn't have been there; they're her bosses now. I totally understand not liking her, and not caring about what she has to say and wishing the interviewers had focused on other people, but I can't get on board with the diagnosis of famewhore because she showed up; it's part of the job. She didn't do it as much with her former show because 1) they weren't nominated for much and 2) they were based in San Diego.

IMO, she's a famewhore. Even when she was with her own cast at industry parties, you rarely saw her taking pictures with them. She was with other casts/producers trying to get her picture taken with them. IMO, she thought she was too good for VM, so she aligned herself with up and comers. That's all well and good for her career, but as a person who values loyalty, it rubs me the wrong way.

I kind of agree with you. There are pics of her on OhNoTheyDidn't, and a video of her air drumming...it just seeems like she's trying way too hard/ is way too excited to be on a HIT show. I can't wait for the Heroes explosion that will come. The TwoP moderators shut it down for now, but they can't stop people from griping once the show actually airs.

I like Kristen fine, but I agree that her appearance on the Emmys was seriously annoying because it was sooooooo obviously a PR move. Not only was she sitting on the front row when other established and popular cast members were regulated to the second row, but she was also pointedly sitting next to the only cast member nominated for an award, thereby guaranteeing that she'd get a lot of camera time.
I don't know enough about her to determine if it was coming from her and her people or the producers of Heroes were just trying to cash in on her fanbase. But it doesn't matter to me - end result was that it was pretty annoying and bordered on obnoxious.
And this may be unpopular, but while I like KB okay I just really don't think she's all that and a side of fries. She's a good enough actress, but I never saw what the huuuge deal was on Veronica Mars. Again, I thought she was good, but I never thought she was just head and shoulders above everyone else and never understood why the VM fans were so ga-ga over her.
So because of that, her appearance at the Emmys was twice as annoying to me because I don't think she's worth all the hype. I think it would have been cool if she was just there to support her new cast mates and was just sitting here mixed in on the back row with some of the lesser cast members and crew members. But no, she was front and center, sitting next to Masi like she had been sent down from above to bless their little show - which is strange by itself, because the show is wildly popular already and does need a big "name" to come along and boost their profile.

Well-said, kostgard, I was having trouble putting my finger on what bugged me.
I'd add that whether it was intended as a PR move by her or the Heroes people, it kinda backfired. I had a lukewarm opinion of her before, and a slightly sour one after.
Having said that I can't inherently hold it against Kristen Bell that she's aggressively pursuing her career - I think that kind of ambition is necessary in entertainment, plus I'm wary of running up against the whole male/female double standard in that regard. But the Emmy stunt was just plain annoying, and I think it would have been annoying if it were one of the male cast members (like even Christopher Eccleston, who is cool) suddenly having the spotlight thrust upon him. Or grabbing it, depending on your interpretation.

Wow, I'm totally flummoxed by all the hostility aimed at her for the Emmys appearance. I'm no expert or anything, but I did grow in Hollywood as a child of a TV producer who went to the Emmys a few times, and I can tell you that going to the Emmys/deciding where you sit/giving interviews? Not at all, in any way, shape, or form, the choice of the actor. Getting an invite to the Emmys isn't a cut and dry thing; you don't just show up 'cause you're part of a show. The network most definitely did that. And if the network told her to jump, she was contractually obligated to jump, and do however many interviews with whoever they wanted, and sit where they told her to sit. It's not like you go into the auditorium and just pick out a seat any old place. Kristen's level of agency in the whole thing was probably nil.
Plus, I don't really see why the network shouldn't send her and show her off; she's an addition to the show that brings along a fanbase of her own, and is well-known on television, and cute and marketable to boot. A little crass, I guess, but... I just don't see why it would rile. Old fogies are always getting shoved out of the way by the hot young thing. It's the way of the biz. I feel like this was a particularly tame example of that, too... she seemed to take every opportunity in interviews to talk about how excited she is to join the cast, and was very gracious, as far as I saw. I don't see how helping promote a show you're on is being a famewhore. It's actually pretty much her job.

I just don't buy the "she had to do it" line. She shows up at the opening of an envelope. I'm sure she wanted to go, I'm sure she pushed for it, and I'm sure she was well-aware of where the cameras were every second.
That said, I do think the Heroes producers are pushing her as well. I don't really get why. I guess her massive fanbase of less than 2 million viewers is just that irresistable. I don't know anyone in real life who even knows who Kristen Bell is, but the Heroes peeps seem to think they landed some massive coup. I'm pretty certain they even crammed the character in at the last moment just for her. The whole thing bugs.

The producers definitely feel they've landed the "It" girl of TV, but seriously, most of my friends hated Veronica Mars and couldn't care less that she's on Heroes. They watched for the S1 cast and don't feel it needed another tiny, blonde actress.
