This is why I wonder why he's so "desirable". He's not that good-looking, he's not that smart or interesting (at this point, Angie and the kids are the most interesting part about him). I wouldn't want to listen to his pretentiousness all day - maybe he should have married Gwynnie. They could have bored each other to death and we'd be rid of both of them.

I think he comes across all right in interviews most of the time. When he's talking about his projects and why he does them he's usually very interesting. Ironically the only time he comes across as silly IMO is when he tries to be all "deep" and ends up being pretentious and obnoxious. I think he gets in a funk from time to time about people underestimating him and tries to prove them wrong. He should just let that go. He's got this laid-back surfer dude/stoner vibe going, there's nothing he can do about that.
And I don't think at this point it's about "desirable" anymore. He's A-List. About as A-List as you can get. He made sure that he's not tied to his looks so strongly anymore career-wise. And now that he's 50 and "his face goes" or however he called that once, he's set anyway. Fury looks pretty good, if perhaps a bit too much like the usual conventional war movie.
What I've always found interesting about him is his movie career. He makes really intriguing, sometimes even risky choices (moreso than Angelina IMO whose CV is rather more conventional). Not everything works, but that part of his public persona is fascinating to watch IMO. The celebrity aspect? He manages and controls that well for the most part, but I agree that he's not super interesting in that department.

You know, with the exception of the Shia LeDouche tongue bath- I actually agree with everything he said. He's in a position where he can be picky about projects and directors and since he has a very large family with still pretty young kids, I don't blame him for saying 'No' to anything or anyone that doesn't seem worth it. The tobacco spitting story struck me as funny- and sometimes those impromtu moments can make movie magic (not sure if that was the case here since I don't even know which movie he's talking about- But in the end it was funny. He and LeDouche getting so bent out of shape and then finding out the guy was just following the script they apparently didn't read very well)
And on the happiness tip- I think he's just trying to be all Zen without articulating it very well. I think he's trying to acknowledge that happiness, while great, is fleeting and life is always a series of ups and downs. Yeah, I get that a millionare with an awesome, healthy family and the ability to pick and chose his workload might sound insufferable saying anything less than 'Yes! I am SOOOO Happy!!!!' But to me he's just clumsily trying to put it all in perspective.
He loses me completely on the Shia-Love though. I'm just going to assume they spent a lot of down time in their trailer smoking weed and that's where the notion that Shia is a great guy and terrific actor floated into Brad's brain. Somewhere between tokes and giggles and hundreds of declarations of 'I love you, man!' he decided Shia was an ok guy... and that happiness was overrated...

I was just thinking to myself when this thread popped up, "What now?" [ small voice] Brad Pitt doesn't seem to be that interesting.[/ small voice] Angelina, whether during her "wild child period" or in her current phase as a humanitarian (and this generation's version of Mia Farrow in terms of adoption) - and not even factoring her relationship with Brad - seems way more interesting. But didn't even Gwynnie get bored with him? She allegedly cheated on him, right? Besides, she probably thought she was way more interesting than Brad anyway. I guess Jennifer Aniston was more in his level in that sense: the (former) golden couple who didn't seem to be all that fascinating as individuals. You know, with the exception of the Shia LeDouche tongue bath- I actually agree with everything he said. Yes. Brad is A-list! He can choose to be picky! He doesn't have to lower himself to appearing in dreck just for a check (at this point) just on principle. He loses me completely on the Shia-Love though. I'm just going to assume they spent a lot of down time in their trailer smoking weed and that's where the notion that Shia is a great guy and terrific actor floated into Brad's brain. That'd make Brad way more interesting if that was the way it went down.

I choose to contribute his dual roles as producer & actor for the Shia love fest. They are about to start promotion for the movie and he wants to eliminate a talking point by making it seem as if Shia's behavior isn't a distraction.

Between Two FernsThis is actually pretty hilarious, especially the Ross and Rachel reference.

When they first showed Brad in a closeup, I gasped. He looks so STRANGE, so puffy and fillered up and not normal. I got used to it quickly but after Zack it made me realize how odd celebs look.

I think the problem is that his heavy make-up and the lighting don't go together. We shouldn't be able to clearly see the mask of foundation on his face.
