Sherri has a very successful wig line and she also has her stand-up career, and she's done some movies. She made at least $1.5M annually from The View. For an unemployed grifter, that's more than enough gold to dig. I wouldn't be surprised if the current husband realised just how dumb she is and hatched this plan with his ex. According to Celeb Networth (yeah...I know....) she's worth 10 million. They tend to overestimate according to those profiled, but not by crazy amounts. Not big money, but respectable, and worth trying for a child support settlement.

If I had known Sherri, I would have taken her aside and said, "you need to explore ALL your options, not just Black men." Because IMO if a Black man knows that a Black woman only wants to date Black men, they feel they don't need to try as hard. Yes, because Sherri Shephard has many more dating options outside of her race. Sound advice. I don't get this. Why wouldn't she have dating options outside her race?

It's a goldmine to Sally, ex-teacher and failed writer, absolutely. Folks have murdered their spouses for life insurance policies worth less than a tenth of that 1.5 million. I think it's pretty obvious she's the victim of a con and I'm standing by patiently to see if she will have learned ANYTHING from this debacle, because, as you all have said, she's just so chronically stupid.

I don't even think Sherri has to date outside her race to find a decent man. Looking beyond whatever dudes her pastor, church and her more church involved girlfriends recommend and approve of would make a world of difference.

Honestly, Sherri needs to keep to herself and keep Jeffrey safe. Then she will be alright. Hopefully she doesn't have any more friends recommending a man for her!

I don't care if he committed fraud or not, SHE agreed to have a baby using a surrogate and that child deserves to be supported. If she doesn't want to have a relationship with the child, so be it, but she has a moral obligation to support a child who would not have been born if she hadn't decided she wanted one for whatever reason.
She doesn't have to go through 18+ years of co-parenting hell, all she needs to do is have a child support plan put in place that is unchangeable, along with a non-disclosure and gag order that keeps her slimy ex from ever saying anything about her and the child, then walk away.

I think the baby is best put up for adoption to a family or parent who wants a child. Imagine growing up under those circumstances—that doesn't seem to be in a person's best interest. Give that kid the best start possible—parents who want to be parents.

I agree. Let someone else have the child, because I suspect the slime ball soon-to-be-ex would lose interest once he is stopped from getting child support from Sherri. And if the baby belongs to the surrogate/girlfriend, the child should be reasonably cared for. Sherri was tricked into that situation and she should be allowed to walk away from it. Any man would do the same if it wasn't his baby.

This is a bad situation no matter how you look at it.
I do wonder why it was assumed that he would get primary custody and, therefore, child support. What would have prevented her from getting primary custody and him being the one paying? Is it because he's a bio-parent/she's not or because she's cuckoo or...?

It's not just that she's dumb, she just seems to have no ability, or no desire, to think for herself. Even with the whole "flat earth" thing, her response wasn't "I'm going to do some reading and educate myself," it was "I need to ask my pastor." It seems to be a severe lack of self-esteem as much as actual stupidity that is her big problem.
