British English just sounds more "historical" and somehow more appropriate to period pieces, even if it's not accurate. Every movie and TV show set in the past does it so I can't blame Exodus for doing it too. Leonardo DiCaprio used his own California accent when he played Louis XIV in The Man in the Iron Mask and that was just weird.
I haven't liked Bale since the whole Terminator incident. He seems like he would be a pill to be around.

As I recall John Malkovich didn't really bother changing his accent for Dangerous Liaisons (or Man in the Iron Mask for that matter) and I think it was OK in those cases. But then, he's John Malkovich. Maybe you need to be operating on that level to pull off an American accent in a period piece.

Anyone remember Keanu Reeves in Dangerous Liaisons? His California surfer boy accent was really jarring.

He is no doubt, a fantastic actor and I'll always have a soft spot for him for when he played Laurie in Little Women. Having said that, he is SUCH a pill. I'm listening to aSirius Town Hall show and he is so humorless and a dick to the interviewer. He, Ridley Scott and even Joel Eggerton were just kind of awful.

Joel and Weaver make me laugh in the trailers. At least Bale's tan looks good & real. Joel looks insane to me, like he's wearing a Halloween costume and his mom Weaver decided to tag along. I cannot take them seriously.
I still think Bale is really attractive, but the intense crush I had on him through, say, the first Batman, is over. Too many other hotties who I don't need to apologize for. (OK, Out of the Furnace was good, in spite of him.) But that was a good, tight story in general.

I read this thinking I was still in the Keanu Reeves thread and I was like "WHOA luminosa I'm gonna have to take you up on this 'no doubt' business." Anyway Bale is more talented but in a round of F/M/K I would marry Keanu and either fuck or kill Bale. I hope that's sufficiently on topic

Looks like Exodus is heading towards being an official bomb - only 24.1 mil for opening weekend and terrible reviews.

Bale's one of those actors whose work I (generally) like, and I can accept they're probably tools because they haven't done anything awful or monstrous (that we know of). I really liked him in American Hustle.

I, too, have a soft spot for Bale because he was Laurie in LW and in Newsies and Swing Kids, and he's my age and I've watched him and crushed on him since EOTS. I suspect he can be a huge pill, but a lot of artists are. And he's done movies like "All the Little Animals." And my love was renewed by American Hustle and his visits to the Colorado shooting victims. Short of actually hurting anyone, I'm going to continue to believe he's misunderstood and his comments about his skin were poor attempts at being self-deprecating (I hope). And I'm not big on my biblical stories, I'm just going to pretend this didn't happen. Also, little known fact: he actually played Jesus in a TV movie about a decade ago, which was weird casting to me.
I probably won't see the Moses movie, but he's incredibly versatile. And so, so hot.
