My love of the Gosling is fairly new...I saw the Believer for the first time by accident a few weeks ago and was transfixed by his performance. This caused me to Netflix all of his movies, even the Notebook, which I never expected to enjoy (and recall mocking when it was in theaters last summer).
He's a brilliant actor. He looks different in every movie but it's not just hair color or the way he dresses. He has an unbelievable ability to become the character he's playing and make it appear so effortless.
My only complaint is that he doesn't make more movies.

I just got it. I sat through The Believer, Murder by Numbers, and The Notebook and just thought "Huh, REALLY good actor." I sat through his three minute appearance on the MTV Movie Awards and I was drooling like a moron. The sex, indeed! Great googly-moogly!

One-two punch of "The Believer" & "The Notebook" is what did it for me. A year later, I'm still smitten.
I don't really believe in karmic retribution within one's lifetime, but ... several years ago, I was merciless, mocking a friend over her thing for "Young Hercules." Now, I'm the one with the thing. Makes me wonder.
I have to hunt down this MTV awards reel.

I don't know why but it kills me that Ryan Gosling is receiving more public recognition from the MTV awards show kiss than he received for his brilliance in The Believer. Granted, it was hot, and the way he carries himself is just so sexy.
But what I like about him almost as much as his acting ability is that he's the anti-famewhore. I hope the MTV appearance doesn't cause the papparazi to start harassing him.

According to my mother in law there is nothing scandalous to report. He was a pretty boy who grew up to be the handsome guy he is today. Average family average kid.

I horrified myself a bit at how incredibly hot I found his tortured, Jewish self-hating neo-Nazi in The Believer. I absolutely bought that a girl would get off on a glimpse of Ryan Gosling simply looking at her (okay, so she was having sex at the time, but still). He an amazing actor. I'm watching The Notebook tomorrow, and I guess I'll see if his appeal breaks through to me even in the midst of a weepy romantic drama.

The Gos is freakin' hot. My respect for Sandra Bullock went through the ROOF when I found out she hit that.
I actually didn't find him that attractive, per se, in The Believer, but his performance was just... searing. I could not believe how young he was to have such authority on screen, and I was even more shocked to find out later that he had been one of the Mickey Mouse Club kids! When you consider his contemporaries were Britbot, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake, his lack of famewhorishness is all the more striking.
Anyway, I just saw the Stay trailer. RG and Ewan? I am so there.

I saw a clip from The Believer on the Independent Spirit Awards a few years ago (he was nominated but didn't win) and was just mesmerized by the short clip. I saw the movie and was amazed at his intensity. The thing is, he didn't have a good screenplay or other excellent performances to feed off of, it was almost all him and what he personally brought to the role. IMO, the only reason the movie works at all is because of Gosling's fabulous performance. Can you imagine a weak actor in that role? It would have been a disaster.

Ryan and Rachel McAdams are allegedly romantically linked. This just might mean they were spotted having dinner together. But the gossip -- it must be spread!
