Canadian Greecie here. I think they're doing a great job. IMHO, the only people who have a chance at stopping the pipeline are the native groups. I really hope they succeed.

As a USian, I've been distracted by other current events, but holy jeez. I didn't realize what had progressed in the Ghomeshi case. Updates for my fellow out-of-the-loop people: Ghomeshi drops $55mil lawsuit against CBC, is charged with four counts of assault, surrenders to police, is to be released on bail and will show up in court next week. Link to the most recent article I could find.ETA: jinx, jmart!

I don't think that most people knew what had progressed. From complaint to charge in one month, that's fast. The police took this very seriously. Of course his plea was not guilty. He dropped the suit against the CBC and has to pay their $18,000 legal fees. He is released on $100,000 bail, and has to live with his mother, surrender his passport.
I am pleased. I hope that other victims of assault are believed. I hope this makes a difference.

I hope that his mom puts the fear of God herself in him! (Is an Iranian mom anyone to mess with?)

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canuck Greecies and all Canada-wannabes! It's a big party today across the country as we celebrate our country's sesquicentennial- 150 years of Canadian awesomeness, eh? Have a Caesar, some poutine, ketchup chips and a KitKat!

Don't forget a beaver tail and a butter tart!
Any Greecies live in areas where there is a Tim Horton's selling poutine donuts (today only)?

Happy Canada Day to all Greecies, and happy 150th to Canada! 🇨🇦 I'm at Disney World now, where I have been declared an Honourary Canadian! All I had to do was answer a few easy trivia questions at Epcot's Canada Pavilion yesterday, and I got a special WDW Celebrates Canada's 150th button. Here's what I was asked: 1. When is Canada Day? (July 1, of course) 2. What is the national capital? (Ottawa) 3. What is the national animal? (Beaver) Tonight I'm going back to Epcot to get a Unibroue beer and share in the cheer with with the enthusiastic young Canadians working there. 🍻

TTMT is Canadian and we have 5 of 6 of our Canadian nieces and nephews visiting until July 5. Tonight we are going to go to Port Huron to watch fireworks lit up in Sarnia across the St. Clair River.
It's good to live so close to Canada!
