I'd say, if anything, Cate is liked and respected a lot more than Nicole. We definitely had bit of a Nicole backlash here - too overexposed, too surgeried, the Tom Cruise connection. Nicole seems very "Hollywood" whereas Cate seems a lot more normal even with her artistic/cultural projects. Cate seems to straddle high art and just being another mum - and is very low key. She lives in Hunters Hill (rich but not OMG crazy rich), shops at Broadway for her groceries kitted out in birkenstocks and no makeup, her kids go to school in Lilyfield. It's all very understated. And I think she gets left alone a bit accordingly. The only negative thing I can recall about Cate was a few years back when she supported a Sydney photographer who had taken naked photos of a young girl in the name of "art." The elitist tag was definitely thrown about then but I don't think any mud stuck

Cool, thanks Aussie Greecies! I'd love to visit Australia one day. Seems like such a neat country but also similar to my own Canada (large country, small population, former British colony, and so on).

Delta Goodrem has moved on...with a Jonas Brother? I don't know how famous the Jonas Brothers ever were in Australia, but they were the bubble-gum tween crush object here in America before Justin Bieber came along, though they were never quite as big as he's become and were much more goody-goody. Delta sang on the US Dancing with the Stars last week and went over pretty well.

I just wish Delta would stop trying to make her music career happen. Go off and marry a rich man or something. Design some handbags, go on morning tv. Just stop with the caterwauling!

No, that was Kevin (since there were only three JoBros he had to pull double boy-band duty as "the ugly one", too). Nick was the young/cute one.

Most random couple ever. I remember hearing through the Alias source grapevine that Melissa George's husband (I guess soon-to-be ex-husband) was thought of as creepy and possessive. Some sources made it sound like the woman couldn't go the bathroom without the man following her. If that's how he is then good for her for finally giving the man the boot. Russell seems like a nice guy at least. Just out of curiosity just how relevant is Melissa George in Australia? When she landed her Alias gig (*shudders as horrible season 3 memories return*) ABC, probably working with her PR people, made it sound like she was one of the biggest celebrities in Australia. Not quite at Nicole Kidman level of fame but still pretty big. Is she really that big of a star or is just PR gone overboard?

PR overboard! She's best known for her role on a soap many, many years ago. She does get magazine space for her numerous roles on crappy/cancelled series (and now, her weird hookups, I guess), but she is pretty much irrelevant to anyone but devoted gossip/celeb followers...ie. me

Melissa George? Not much to say, really, except that it's quite astonishing that Angel from Home and Away found so much success overseas. And I'll never forget her very serious comment in a retrospective on Australian tv where she said [paraphrasing] "in all the centuries of television ... ." Idiot.

I figured it was PR overload but hey I've been wrong before so I thought I would ask.
Well, I don't know how successful she's been in places like the UK but she really hasn't had much success here. Practically, anytime she lands a tv gig her performance is usually panned by critics and fans of the show. Yeah, I know she got a GG nom but to this day I don't see how since the nicest thing I ever read about her performance was, "Well, at least she's not embarrassing herself this time!"
Yeah, I remember reading some of interviews after she landed Alias and quickly realizing she's not exactly a mental giant. Though, for some reason, what stand out in my mind the most is when In Treatment was about to air and the cast was making the interview rounds. MG said people should watch the show because it had dialogue. On the flip side, if you ever feel kinda low and need a good laugh try reading some of her interviews. You will be giggling at her stupidity and delusions in no time!
