Speaking of finales, that Seinfeld in Oz skit reminded me of how much I hated the ending of Oz. Is that an unpopular opinion? All I know is that I felt so down after watching it that I've never watched it again.
The end of Seinfeld, though, was great. It fit their mantra perfectly: "No hugging, no learning."

I always thought the end of Seinfeld was great. If you think about it, they were all terrible people and they got what they deserved: a good public shaming and some jail time.

I always thought the end of Seinfeld was great. If you think about it, they were all terrible people and they got what they deserved: a good public shaming and some jail time. More than that, though, it was the creators trolling the fans. Which might have been awful if they didn't actually underline the point of the show. These were some awful people and lots of watchers identified with them. Like, why would you go around saying you're the "Jerry" or the "George" of the group? You shouldn't want to be any of these people. The fact that the show actually came out and said "hey, y'all, if you're pissed, you've totally missed the point" made it all so awesome. I'm not sure I wanted to go there, but the finale of HIMYM gives me a smug sense of self-satisfaction. I never liked the show because it begged you to be fascinated with how cool it was. The whole "legen- wait for it- dary" thing? You just know some people high-fived over it and said "yeah, people are going to be totally repeating this!" I know the irony is that Seinfeld was guilty of doing the gimmickry thing also. BUT, and I say this who someone who (UO) didn't really like Seinfeld, I consider it a work of genius in that it was written such that here you have these self-absorbed jerks and they have their own "things", but you expect them to because they're so obsessed with themselves in the first place. Hey TV writers: Stop making the characters so earnest while trying to make them appear clever. It's not attractive, it's cloying.

All I know is that I felt so down after watching it that I've never watched it again. I barely remember the series finale of Oz but I remember I didn't like it all. I think by that point the show had gotten fairly ridiculous. I read an interview with Chris Meloni recently and he was asked if he was happy with how things ended with his character and he just laughed and said no. Vulture had a recapping of the whole Beecher/Keller love story and it is insane. I've rewatched Oz a couple of times but I always stop after season 3.

I liked the Seinfeld and Lost finales, unpopular opinions in the interweb world. We went to Hawaii and saw where some of Lost was filmed (nerd!).
However, best finale ever is Newhart.

Here's an Unpopular Opinion I never expected to have: Homeland sucks. I'd been saving that series for a rainy day and really expected to love it. Five episodes in, I'm about to give up. I just cannot buy Claire Danes as a CIA agent. Nevermind the forced and unbelievable plot contrivances, the cliched characters I've seen on other spy dramas and the hackneyed dialogue, Claire is killing me. It's like watching Angela Chase pretend to be Sydney Bristow.

Yeah. You might want to walk if you're hating it this early in. I've never watched it, but my friends who do and the internet at large seem to be of the opinion that the show goes MASSIVELY downhill during the second season.

Indeed it does. I liked the first season, but it's just gotten worse. I'm really only still watching it just to see how ridiculous it gets.

Yeah, if you don't buy her as a CIA agent in the first season, you're head is going to explode from the ridiculousness of her as a CIA agent by the third season.

It's funny, I loved season one of Homeland, I thought it was fantastic. But I never had any desire to watch season two or three. And that's even before season two aired. To me it just felt like a perfect one season show and that's how I wanted to remember it. I can't say I regret that decision at all.
