I really need to stop over thinking things. Today it occured to me - How does Sid know her father is dead? Unless they dug his body out of the cave, in which case they also would have found Sloane. ugh. The more I think about this ending the less I like it.

That bothered me too - wouldn't they dig through the rubble to try to gather the bits of exploded Jack and then wouldn't they have found Sloane sitting inside?
I mean they would have to look - they sent a medical team to get Jack. When they arrived and didn't see him out there but saw that the cave/tomb had caved in, and wouldn't they try to dig in there in case Jack went inside and the opening collapsed on him so he was inside rapidly running out of air?
That's just part of why I didn't really like that. I understand the emotional impact of Jack dying while saving his daughter, but it was just really unsatisfying.

I just watched the finale and I am left rather confused with the same above questions. They jumped too far at the end with no explanations and showing character reactions to deaths and other storylines.
Not impressed with the Rambaldi explanation - I thought after 5 seasons it would have been greater than what it was....
I was crushed when Jack died. Well, he appeared to stand up and collapse then die, then after was in the cave with Sloane who appeared to come alive again. WTF? Why did Jack blow himself up with Sloane of all people? That is not the Jack we come to know and love...
I would have liked to have seen more of Francie and where the hell was Will? They were such an integral part of the first 2 seasons and Syd's life and all we saw of Francie was 30 seconds.
I did like the last 3 minutes with Syd and Vaughn's family and the irony of Isabelle putting that puzzle together then knocking it down. History may or may not repeat itself... I liked how they named the baby boy Jack too.
I stopped watching Alias last season, but had to see how it was concluded and to me it was rather rushed and too many characters died. The message at the end thanking us for the 5 seasons made me shed a tear.

Well, her dad was pretty close to death so it isn't that much of a leap to assume he died. But I get your points....
Seeing NonEvilClone Francie was awesome! Merrin's name in the credit's totally threw me for a loop...
Stupid, stupid ABC, treating this show like a bastard stepchild. Honestly, 5 more episodes could've made all the difference.
That said, part of me viewed this like the go-for-broke/baroque finale of Twin Peaks where they just kept either painting the characters into corners or killing them off in fits of madness. And I gotta say, I kinda loved it since Alias always had pretty much devolved into madness in seasons 3-5. Still, an Emmy for Victor would be nice.

If ever there was anyone who deserved an Emmy, it would be Victor Garber- ITA Hunter.

I don't know if I can rewatch the series yet, I am still mourning the show. . It is really weird rewatching the show. I am in the middle of season two right now and can't stop screaming at Syd & Jack not to trust Irina.

This is a VERY unpopular opinion but I never was a big fan of Irina. And even from the beginning I never trusted her. She genuinely loves Sydney in her own way but I never doubted for a second that if she had too, she would totally shoot Syd in the head. Especially if Syd gets in Irina's way. I completely understood Jack's frustration with the way the CIA and Sydney handled Irina in season 2.
Jack and Irina are alot alike. They have both done some cold blooded things without breaking a sweat. The huge difference though is that Jack does things out of genuine love for Sydney. He ADORES her and she is the first and only thing in his life. Irina loves Rambaldi and power more. Syd is somewhere in the middle. I was glad Irina died in the finale.
I got a kick out of the fans who wanted the finale to end with Jack and Irina together. Like Irina Derevko is really going to discover the error of her ways and become a "good guy". If that had happened that would have been an even bigger character assasination then her trying to kill Syd. Which I thought was a very Irina thing to do. Plus I don't think Jack would take Irina back if she was offered to him on a silver platter.

Of course I still like Irina or LO, at least prior to the finale, but yeah I can't understand those who thought she and Jack were going to walk off into the sunset together with Syd & Vaughn. Thats just not Irina. She is a Derevko and would never be satisfied to just be Mom & Grandma. And Jack is or rather was no fool. Yeah he slipped trust wise with her at times, but at his core he knew who she really was even if he tried to ignore it on occasion for both his sake and Sydneys. He loved her no doubt but he never really trusted her.

Unless they dug his body out of the cave, in which case they also would have found Sloane. ugh. I'm totally overthinking things and reading way too much into it all as well. Considering how obsessive Rambaldi's followers supposedly were, it's well within reason that another one could easily find Sloane in that cave and drag him out of the rubble. It wasn't like he was buried deep into the earth. But with the piss poor ratings this season, there's pretty much no chance of a movie or a TV movie, is there? Maybe they could spark a deal to have some follow-up novels written. I know I saw some novels based on "Alias" at the bookstore one time, but I think they were targetted at young teenagers.

That would have had for an awful ending.... I did not want either of them to die, but certainly did not want them together. That would have been all sorts of wrong.
