Now see, I was about eight or nine when Growing Pains started becoming popular and I hated Kirk even then. I always prefered Michael J. Fox.

Well, I'll admit (only while cringing, though) that I had a minor crush on him when I was seven, at the height of the Growing Pains popularity. I think I even picked him as one of my husbands for games of MASH in the second grade.
I feel bad for his children. You gotta feel bad for any kids who are raised to believe the majority of the world's population is headed for hell.

Sigh. I thought he was really cute, too, back in the day. Now? There's not enough money and comic books in the world to make me want to go near him (except to punch him in his smarmy, holier-than-thou face).

Does he have an actual job? One that supports his family? I can't imagine there's any money coming in from Growing Pains anymore, and saving the world must be expensive.

And you can bet good money that most of the budget for those scumy little pseudo-Christian flicks goes right into Cameron's wallet.

Both he and Chelsea have worked pretty steadily. Growing Pains, the Growing Pains movies, that series "Kirk" which was on for two seasons, and the Left Behind movies. I'm sure they are very well off. (And if they got a percentage on those Left Behind movies, they'd be fantastically wealthy.) And don't forget those "Way of the Master" DVDs and books he sells!

That had been totally wiped from my memory until just now. Weird.
I've never actually seen the "Way of the Master" TV show, but I've heard it's hilarious. Unintentionally hilarious, of course.
My best friend's mom fell under Kirk's spell a few years ago, and it "changed her life." She started preaching to everyone who would listen, and I swear she sounded just like his web site. She alienated everyone, including her daughter, and when her husband got sick with cancer, she was going to take him off chemo and to a Christian retreat where they could "pray the cancer away" or something. (I don't know if that has anything to do with Kirk Cameron or not.) They never went, her husband went into remission and eventually she wised up, but it was a pretty sad situation for a while there.

I think he's an executive producer or something for the movies so I'm sure he makes a chunk of money off of them. It's a shame though since that means people are actually buying and watching those pieces of crap.
I always hated the fact that he had the one actress fired for being in Playboy and essentially alienated himself from the rest of cast but Mr. I'm A Christian didn't seem to reach out to his suffering cast mate Tracey Gold when she was struggling with an eating disorder.
With him and with lots of Fundies, their religion is all about them and maintaining their sense of arrogrance and superiority. They'll only 'reach out' if its in a way that makes them feel better/look good. They don't really care about Jesus, charity, or generally being a good person. They just want to feel like they're better than everybody else.

I did hear on his website that he was using The Passion of the Christ to witness to his former castmates during one of the reunion movies. Um, okay, after all the fucking Catholic bashing he and LeHaye and Jenkins have done, it's okay to use a Catholic film to shill your little cult? (NOT that I'm a fan of Gibson, and technically, he's not a committed Catholic, but a sedevecantist.) I think he said the guy who used to play Ben (Jeremy something) was moved by the film. Too bad, because in the E! True Hollywood Story, he has gotten VERY good looking and seemed to have a lot of common sense.
