Get in line, bitches! I mean, we can share, right? But since this thread claims he's gay, does that mean I go first? Where does one pick up a "houseboy" application?
I don't buy gay. Bisexual? Sure. The him and Wahlberg rumors seem more credible to me than him and Brad. But I don't see how the fact that a man can't commit somehow means he's gay. There are plenty of guys out there who can't commit to marriage. I'd admire his honesty -- better to tell someone that you don't want to marry or have kids than have an unhappy marriage and unwanted children.
He is so incredibly sexy, smart, funny and charming, it's obscene. Though the Di thing was a bit ridiculous, I do admire the fact that he writes letters to publications and takes on O'Reilly himself rather than crouch behind nonstatements and publcist-approved quotes. Proved he could act in Solaris -- there's one scene where he's huddled on the floor, distraught, and Soderbergh has framed it so his eyes are completely blacked out. It's very haunting. Made a decent directorial debut and has interesting projects lined up -- is there any Oscar buzz for Syriana? Hot-button issue (middle east), plus 30 pounds method weight-gain seems like award bait. Somehow manages to be a huge star yet off Hollywood's radar most of the time. A move smartly accomplished by living in gorgeous Italy. If he'd just learn to speak Italian with that purr (someone else dubbed it a "butterscotch voice"), damn it, resistance would be futile.
Hmm, I can't think of a straightforward romantic role besides One Fine Day -- he's always so rakish, which means the cons always work well. It's too bad no one makes classic romantic comedies anymore. Clooney is the delicious combo of Cary Grant -- his Intolerable Cruelty role is a nice variation of Grant's in Charade -- with a dash of Errol Flynn. Good luck with the script. My male characters are often idealized for him as well. I had a great musical role, but the script fell apart.
Gushing? Moi? Fine. I'll go all out with the embarassing crush -- I once owned a Beyonce doll (it was a gift, okay?) and considered doing a stop-motion animation parody entitled "Clooneylicious." Yeah. Never got beyond the first few lines, though. He's getting an award from the LA Film Fest tomorrow for his work in producing independent films. Anyone want to crash it? If only...

Ugh. That link mentioned him as a possibility for Aniston...PUH-LEEZE...like George would make a move on his pal's ex. Not to say it wouldn't be sweet revenge on her part if she could manage it -- but she absolutely cannot. Cloon is a guy's guy (and nooo...not in that way, LOL), and wouldn't even think about it. I never understood why he didn't go for Julia Roberts, they seemed to be having a blast together -- teasing, and fun on Ocean's 11 and in photoshoots...and then she ups and marries the cameraman dude? I. don't. get. it. Clooney seemed smitten with her - or maybe he's just a really good actor. By the way -- I guess George is saving his smackdown for Crusty...he probably doesn't want to pile on to the already bad karma he's experiencing with Nestor. Hee. But just wait til McSnarly gets all squared away...it's gonna be ON baby! It irked me something terrible, because I read some little gossip blurb yesterday that implied Clooney started the feud when he dissed Crowe's so-called band. When it was Crowe who maligned Clooney, DeNiro and others FIRST. Grrrrrr.

I think I remember reading the rumor (on some board) that George HATED Julia because she was dating one of George's friends and she was screwing around with with someone else.

I heard him doing an interview one time, and I don't remember exactly what the subject was, exactly -- Probably something about celebrities doing charitable works, or making donations. He seemed taken aback slightly by the interviewer basically congratulating him on being generous with his money. George said, "Well, the thing is, why not? We get paid so much for being in movies!"
Maybe you had to hear it first hand. It was something about the matter-of-fact way he said it, like he was stating a simple fact of life (which I guess he was). But I've never heard a big star so openly admit that, "Yes, we make tons of money, just for being in movies."
For instance, more than once I've heard Jim Carrey get very defensive about how much he makes. Remember that (at the time) landmark salary he made of $12 million? He got very prickly when it was commented on and made remarks about how much of it got eaten up by taxes. I loved that GC was candid about making oodles of money and also didn't make that cliched remark about "giving back." He made it sound like if you've got more money personally than a small town it only makes sense to spread it around a bit.

I will always have a spot in my heart for Clooney. The rakish good looks are only getting better. I also like the faqct that he is so mattera fact about charity. He was the driving force behind the 9/11 telethon and again for the Tsunami benefit. He does it because he can not just because it will make him look good and everyone will see just how generous he is.

He got very prickly when it was commented on and made remarks about how much of it got eaten up by taxes. Like I needed another reason to hate that obnoxious jackass. Does he ever do anything except whine? But this is George's thread, so...George is really handsome. I have to say I get tired of hearing about his on-set pranks, though. I don't think anyone over the age of 13 should do things like put shaving cream on the toilet. Still-it's cool that he's nice to his fans. And he shares the wealth! Yay! I felt bad for him when he got so much bashing over "Batman and Robin"-really, he wasn't such a bad Batman. (The script was the real problem, and oh yeah, casting Alicia "I can't act, I just pout a lot" Silverstone didn't help matters.) Also, for years after it came out, George spent a lot of time making fun of himself for it and saying how he was the worst Batman ever, so it was nice he at least had a sense of humor about the whole thing.
