Yeah, I assumed he was her "trendy gay friend" like Carrie had in Sex and the City. I also did not think he was cute. Nor did I believe for a minute that he was really into her. Not a very good actor.

Was that the "really good friend" -- the one with black hair and glasses -- that she hooked up with at a party? That was the last episode I actually saw of the show, but I saw that guy in NY a couple of weeks ago.

Please tell me this was a joke. What an idiot. Although I can't stop laughing.
I hated how she was always having coffee at Joe. She's too annoying for coffee that good.
And I HATE these 40 year old "girls." That shit stopped being cute around 23.

Nope, it truly wasn't a joke. She got all excited about it and the therapist just looked horrified. The lady was like "That's not a mature view." and then went on this rant about how Lisa just talked about how she's a traditional jewish girl and wants to get married to give her parents grandchildren and blah blah blah. The lady was like "You say you want traditional and you want to make your parents happy but I have a feeling that the wedding scenario you just discussed would break your mother's heart."
It just kills me how marriage is sometime seen as this "Oh, I'll luck into it!" mindset. Lisa is the epitomy of this. She strikes me as a smart albeit very immature woman. But I'm sure that if she has a career goal, she'll work towards it. You don't just wake up and say "Hey, I want to have a number 1 song, I really really hope that happens. Oh well, until it magically does, I'll just buy some more Hello Kitty crap for my kitchen."
If you want something, you work towards it. A relationship takes effort. A marriage takes effort. You don't just magically meet Mr. Perfect on the street at the exact right time and then skip down the alter a few months later. That appears to be the way Lisa thinks it will happen. Like she's surprised that since she's ready to get married right at this second, a guy isn't popping up right at that second with a ring and a cat ear veil.

At some point, you've just got to grow up. She did not get the memo. The epitaph for Generation X.

That was the last episode I actually saw of the show, but I saw that guy in NY a couple of weeks ago. I didn't see the episode where she met him, but yes, he had black hair and glasses. They thought it was cute that they both wore those type of glasses. Now that I you said "really good friend," I'm remembering that I did see an episode where he was trying to help her find a guy. They went to a bookstore and some golf place to find someone for her. I assumed he was an old friend of hers when I watched that episode. Next thing I see was them together.

She also said she wanted to name this child she'd be carrying at her kitty-ear wedding "Sugar" or "Cookie" which made me want to call CPS before she even conceives.

He supposedly had a sort of long-standing crush on her, but she always just viewed him as a friend until someone made her think of him as a possibility. But yeah, he was the one that was with her when they went to the golf place.
