So there are reports that she's expecting twins. An heir and spare? One and done. Makes me wonder if the rumors of fertility problems were true. However, they came to be, I'm happy for her. She's so good with children. I felt sorry for Charlene in the beginning, but she seems to have carved out a nice existence for herself. She works. Her charity is doing well. Now, she'll have a child or children.

Albert's first daughter, Jazmin, has granted an interview with Harper's Bazaar. Unexpected: she looks exactly like Lady Gaga. I never read Harper's Bazaar, so I don't know what their editorial tone is, but this girl sounds tiresome and a bit too impressed with herself, although I expect a lot of that might have to do with her mother, who sounds fixated on Grace Kelly. I think it's cool that she's friends with her cousins, and trying to forge a relationship of sorts with Alexandre.

She looks a lot like Lady Gaga. Nothing like Grace. Hell, Charlene looks more like Grace than Jazmin.

ITA. I think Harper's in particular was pushing the comparison to "grandma" Grace. Gimme a break. None of the Grimaldi children had much resemblance to Grace. Albert had her coloring but that was as close as it got. I think maybe Stephanie and Albert had Grace's nose. Jazmin is Gaga all the way. I'm glad that they are including her in more family stuff. It sounds like Charlene has been a good influence on Albert and I would hope he's slowed down on his "sleep with anything that moves" policy that he seemed to have until recently. Of course his extreme middle-agedness might have something to do with it too.

I agree! I don't really care about the Grace Kelly thing, but I am kind of intrigued by the mundane details of daily life. How many cell phones does she have? What's the scheduling actually like? Does she speak French with her cousins? When she's in foodie mode, are they going haute, eating street meat or clamoring to be in the audience of an episode of Knife Fight? How often do people look at her ID and say, "Grimaldi?? Blar blar blar.

She's got an education, she's into charitable work and she's not photographed falling drunkenly out of night clubs sans panties. I'd say her mom did a decent job.

Fair point, auroranorth, but I reserve the right to judge ! I remember reading about the Jazmin Fund in the People/Hello!/Paris Match (can't remember) profile from when she was 14 or so, and first revealed to the public, and although I dislike hating on minors, I was unimpressed by the whole deal. I don't think her mother is a monster (although maybe she is--she's maintained an exceptionally low profile, heh) and I will fully admit to being completely petty because what bothers me are things like the spelling of her name (I know, I have problems) and of all the middle names in the world, she chose Grace, and now Jazmin goes by Jazmin Grace. Because of Grace Kelly, everyone! And also, I would be interested in reading about Tamara Rotolo--how do you transition from having an insanely wealthy prince's illegitimate child back to real life? I mean, seriously. I also found out that her now ex-husband, from whom she was separated while vacationing in France, is a photographer who also does some paparazzo work. My reaction to all of this is a twitchy eyelid and barely a side-eye. And I will throw some more twitch at the Jazmin Fund--the website looks like it hasn't been updated in years, and seems about as engaged as any other teenager trying to raise money for a spring break mission trip. I'll politely applaud her engagement in charitable causes while registering that it seems underwhelming. Since I don't read HB except for profiles like this, I don't know if she's coming off badly or what, but she sounds like any other socialite who has money and access and wants to do something ~creative. Not that being creative or involved in the arts is anything negative, of course. ETA: I just revisited the "Tamara Confronts Albert" story. Great Rainier's ghost, this is some sort of trashy gothic Harlequin material: Link to People.

OK, that link is pretty eyerolly. I'm not a fan of the spelling either, but giving her Grace as a middle name seems fine to me. At least Tamara hasn't made a lifelong habit of running to the press. (I have a fairly low bar for this stuff.)

True, I admire her restraint, although I wonder if that was just personal integrity or there was a cash incentive.
Regarding Albert, both of the women with whom he had children before Charlene were in their thirties when he was 34 and 45, which I find interesting. Part of me wants to applaud his choice of age-appropriate women, but there is another part of me that vaguely wonders if he was preying on women who are desperate and whose rational-decision making lobe was deafened by the ticking of their biological clocks. It's probably just chance, of course, if he is/was as much as player as rumors indicate but I like real-life trashy romance novels.
