Lainey is calling BS on the separated for 10 months thing and she has the photo receipts. Lots of pics of them looking happy and couple like within the last 10 months. Now, I believe they've been in counseling for a while, but I don't believe a 10 month separation. Lainey cited the Nova Scotia trip as Jen's breaking point.
I hope she has a career resurgence, too.

I get the feeling she's done the heavy lifting in this relationship. I predict 10 years from now she'll have re-ignited her career and moved on to some other handsome celebrity husband (probably younger than her), while he will be gambling, drinking and dating women much younger than him. It's been my experience that some guys need to be married to keep them healthy... I think he's just lost his sanity check. I predict in two years she's guest starring a classy cable drama about the birth of rock music. In three years she's a district attorney/forensic cop/brain surgeon who knows everything about the human brain, but doesn't understand how to love. I mean, maybe she could go the Sandra Bullock route and get an Oscar for a middling drama about a real person, but somehow I don't see it. Maybe I'm wrong. I've only ever seen her in Juno and I have nothing against her. But how often do former lady action stars in their 40s make comebacks like that? Especially since she's shown no desire to produce anything? Weren't we having this conversation about Gwyneth Paltrow, a woman who was far more famous at her peak, and for longer? Besides, I just don't see that Ben Affleck is going to be cheap about money, so she won't need to work at all. The gossip in me is still wondering who's the first to get a new boy/girlfriend, and who it will be. How much does Ben care about his image, and does hooking up with strippers in public really hurt him? There's still the idea that Clooney married a lawyer just to get respectability. Meanwhile Leonardo DiCaprio dates like he's trying to get an Entourage sequel made about his life and he still stars in upscale Oscar-bait. So which way does Ben go? I still think he's a serial monogamist and will end up with another celebrity. But no one from his past. I don't know why people are thinking he still carries a torch for women he dated during the first George W Bush administration. Honestly, if the gossip about him is true is he's the kind of guy who goes out with "proper" women who he should be with, and then keeps his self-destructive streak separate from his public life.

Saw pics from the Comic-Con edition of EW and Batfleck vs. Supes looks as dull and dark as most of Zack Synder's films. No thanks. To get my Batman/Superman fix, I'll watch the cartoons. They are great.

Again, I am probably showing my bias, but she did some great work in Alias. I think that she could definitely have a career boost in her forties.
I will always love 13 Going on 30 -- it is one of the few movies I actually own on DVD. Mark Ruffalo was dreamy.

It all comes down to what I meant by "reigniting" her career. She won't be playing the ingénue or superhero anymore, she's past that; that is reality in the industry. But she makes a pretty decent housewife/mom character and her face expresses a lot of vulnerability, and I expect that will be her selling point.
I wondered about his career choice once I heard he was taking that Batman role. The Batman he's supposedly playing is the faded, jaded, world weary version; the original Dark Knight. The older, heavier Batman... and a character that's been played by several other men. Comparisons will be made.

What's so scandalous about Ben attending Comic-Con? He's playing Batman in a big tentpole movie. Attending Comic-Con to promote it is literally his job. I don't get why that means anything about his divorce, or whether or not he's sad. Scandalous? Never said it was. I was poking fun at the headlines saying, "The Show Must Go On!", etc. Of course he's going to go to promote a big project like Batman at Comic-Con. Since it's a few weeks away, some of this media attention about the divorce might have died down a bit.

A quick look at imdb tells me Jen hasn't exactly been a SAHM the last decade. 13 films in 10 years is nothing to sneeze at. As I said about her a couple months ago, Katie Holmes would probably cut a bitch for that career.

As it should be, disco princess. She definitely put her career on the back burner for the past 10 years. So, if I'm looking at the timeline correctly, Garner was 4 months pregnant when they got married; did that overlap with JLo? There was a "regular" girlfriend in between JLo and Garner, a Boston girl who sold him out to the tabloids on a weekly basis during their brief relationship, resulting in my favorite photo of Ben (EVER!) in front of her apartment scratching his balls: photo

Haha, I remember those days. I also remember a story about her roommates complaining about him, that he was always at their apartment, sweating all over their couch or something like that.

The back hair! He was leaving back hair all over the couch! Happy days.
ETA: If it wasn't for the kids, I'd be rubbing my hands with glee about the show we're going to get from Ben over the next few months. As it is, I hope for the kids' sake that he manages to rein it in.
