While Julie's rebellious and sullen stage did seem to go on for a long time, I actually thought it was pretty realistic. In most tv shows the teen girl is like that for one episode before everything's shiny and happy again, and that's just not how adolescence works.
I miss this show.

Watching two episodes of Nashville reminded me how much I missed Mrs. T. *sniff*
After Coach and his wife, Matt Saracen was my favorite character (The Son!) and I am pulling that all the actors on that show get some decent careers. That's how much I heart that show and pretty much everyone who had a hand in making it so awesome.
Ok, maybe not so much Minka Kelly who I thought was the weakest character and actress on the show.

Minka Kelly was definitely the weakest.
I always thought Julia was so well done. She and I were more or less the same age and so many of her conversations with Coach and Mrs. Coach sounded like they had been written by someone living under our kitchen table. And her relationship with Matt was just perfect. Or perfectly imperfect.

Well, if you're liking Season 2, you're in for a treat because most people (including myself) feel that Season 2 was it's weakest season (although still good). I hated Season 2 (HATED IT!). What was the nurse's name? I hated her so so so much. Minka Kelly...well, there's a reason why she's not getting any work. Hint: She sucks.

Season 3, ep. 11 - J.D.'s father is a total psycho, it's obvious that he's freaking out because he no longer has complete control over his son.

Bumping this up nearly 9 years later to say that I finally watched this on Netflix. I think I’ve binged all five seasons in 3 1/2 weeks. Lol I think I almost cried watching the series finale. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about them switching to the new high school in season four, but I ended up liking seasons four and five the best right after season one.
With the passage of time, it’s interesting that Taylor Kitsch didn’t become the breakout star people assumed he would be as the series wrapped up. I know he’s been working fairly steadily, although the only thing I’ve seen him in is Waco.

Thank you for bumping up this thread. FNL is easily one of my top 10 TV shows of all times. It is so well made and with so much heart. It's a perfect coming of age TV show which I always recommend to parents with teenage kids. It's so much more than a show about football, for those who dismiss it as such.
Aside from Coach Taylor and his wife, Matt was my favorite from all the kids and Zach played him so beautifully. He made me feel for him & his struggles every time he was on screen and the speech he gives at his father's funeral has probably earned him a spot in TV's hall of fame. I have not seen Midnight Mass but I am happy Zach Gilford is finally finding some success after FNL.
Taylor Kitsch is a beautiful man, but I'm not sure he has the charisma and talent to pull off a bigger jump than what he has achieved. Michael B. Jordan was the only true breakout star from that show.

One of my favorite shows ever.
Jesse Plemmons has had an absolutely fantastic career since the show and that really did surprise me. Not because he wasn’t talented but he’s not a looker. Im not surprised Taylor Kitsch didn’t break out. He wasn’t offensive but he just has very little personality and screen presence.

FNL is probably one of my favorite series, but I can't bring myself to rewatch it. I was one of the people who watched it as it aired on TV and then followed on DirecTV. The first season? My train buddy would ask me if everything was alright when he'd see me the next day after an episode. My eyes were all puffy. For awhile he thought I was having relationship issues until I explained to him what was making me cry on Tuesday nights. The entire first season, I'm pretty sure I cried after each episode, probably ugly cried in some. Definitely did some ugly crying in the first episode.
Loved, loved, loved the cast. Kyle Chandler is my husband. I may joke about dating Chris Pine or Chris Evans, but Kyle Chandler? He's my husband. If someone had to play his wife on TV, I'm glad it was Connie. I know it's completely superficial, but she has the best hair on TV.
All the characters of the show were written so real and I'm always happy to see them in a new thing. Some have already mentioned Julie and how her character was written. I still refer to Zach Gilford as Matt Saracen, even while watching him on Midnight Mass recently. I yelled at the TV that Matt Saracen would never drive drunk. I loved Michael B. Jordan (I remember him from Parenthood too) before everyone was thirsting over him as Sexiest Man Alive. Jesse Plemons married Kirsten Dunst, I have no idea how they met, but when I read the news, I was happy for Landry.
I want to watch this show again because it was such a well written, well acted show. But I'm afraid my very fragile emotions may not be able to handle it.
