I think he's a cutie. To tell the truth, I've never actually seen a film he's been in. I just know of him through his marriage, and who his father was. I guess I'm easy on him, because of his father. And I understand why he would want to get into the business. It seems to be a natural step for a lot of celeb offspring.

That was my first thought too. But the more I think about it, this is a guy whose father commited suicide at the height of his career. So maybe it makes sense that he's leary of fame, of acting and the that goes with it.

Exactly. I think that Freddie might have more going on upstairs than his movies suggest.

If he's so damn leery of fame that caused his beloved father's death, then why is he in the same profession?? I don't buy it, he's just a famewhore riding a dead man's coattails unsuccessfully. Writing for freaking Mutant X isn't a step up from lackluster Scooby Doo fare. I think he's just trying to save his career now that he's getting too old to play teenybopper roles.

I get the feeling with a lot of these offspring of celebs that it doesn't even occur to them that they could pursue a career as, i don't know, a pastry chef. It's like show biz is the only industry that exists in their minds.

I can't agree with this. The guy rarely ever talks about his dad. As for being a famewhore, he sure is one lowkey famewhore. He rarely does interviews doesn't seem to be be hanging out at the "in" places, hardly goes to premiers. Doesn't strike me as a famewhore in the the least.
I don't think FP had a lot of influence in his son's career choice since he died when his son was a baby. But it might have been a matter of living and growing up in LA. I may have my time frame confused, I didn't think that he was acting until after he started dating Kim whatsherface. (The girl who played Robin Scorpio on GH.) I think they started dating in HS. So she may have had more influence in getting him into acting then his father.

He didn't have to go into the business. And lord knows, he doesn't have to stay. He could drop out tomorrow and no one would care. Instead, he stays and tries to be a serious actor. He stunk up Boston Legal, and I didn't think it was possible to be a worse actor than my beloved Shatner. I give his show 4 eps to bomb before he'll cart out Smidge as his very special guest star.

I don't want to be an apologist but I agree with Spiffspin he isn't all that much of a famewhore. He doesn't seem introspective enough to have thought through his reasons for pursuing an acting career and he seemed to have started at a pretty young age--his first movie was when he was 20 and at that point in my life, I didn't think things through myself. (Plus his first big tv experience was when he was 13). Plus, Freddie Prinz isn't really a person that you would ride the coattails of if you want to appeal to the demographic he's gone after.
Given the Wilmer Valderamas and the Paris Hiltons and the Kimberly Stewarts (my bete noire) of the world, I think he's pretty benign. Too boring to hate. Too boring to like. Boring in all, but non-threatening all the same.

Agreed. The characters he plays tend also to be boring and non-threatening.
This is why his comment that he has to go to a scary emotional place to act is so puzzling.

The scary place is anywhere outside of his house and PSP2. I really didn't have a problem w/ him until he stuck his nose in the Buffy finale business. After that, it was game on for snarking on his slacker, no talent-ass.
