I was hoping Betty was going to slip on cow dung.

Man, this episode was dull. The show does better when it spends all of its time in the office. Don's personal life is just not interesting.
Why do Peggy and Joan hate Don again? It's been so long since last season that I forgot.
I do hope Peggy ends up in a better place at the end of the season. Hate watching her torn down by Lou and that slimeball with a mustache whose name I can never remember.

Peggy hates Don because she thinks he's the reason why Ted went to LA (never mind that Ted begged to go and this Peggy/Ted shit is getting tedious). I think Joan was just mortified by his display with the Hershey people, and she doesn't know if he can be trusted again.
I think it is interesting that Don is actually trying to right wrongs (though I couldn't give less of a shit about his marriage and I was sort of hoping that Megan, in her desperation, had resorted to the casting couch so they would have a reason to end it all). I wonder how long it will last.

Maybe it's because I forget last season and the reason's I disliked Don, but now I am FULLY on his team. Joan was a total bitch to him, and I don't know what he ever did to her except be a friend. And Peggy can stuff it with her Ted angst. At the partner's meeting I wanted Don to look at their proposal, rip it up, say "I'll expect my payoff check in the mail" look at his other offer and say sayonara.

I bet Joan still holds it against Don that he unilaterally fired Jaguar, in addition to the Hershey debacle. She did get a partnership out of the whole thing and Herb probably would have fired them anyway, but it was incredibly inconsiderate. Peggy is overreacting but Don acting like he was going to reveal her involvement with Ted in front of the aspirin people...he didn't have to go there in front of a client. And didn't Don basically snub Roger for months because of Jane? It's not surprising people might treat Don coldly, regardless of the history.

Peggy is just going to hate him more now that she'll have to move offices again, right now she's in Lane's old office. I understand why everyone ought not like him being there but good lord they actually made me feel sorry for Don with all the venom they were spewing.
Betty is just Betty, so I'm not surprised she froze out Bobby like that. What I got from the whole sandwich thing is that she often doesn't eat so he had good reason to expect she wouldn't be eating at the field trip. She did drop that weight awfully quickly so I wouldn't be shocked if she has an eating disorder. That could make a person cranky and irrational too.

As surprising as it was for Don to agree to those awful terms, he probably sees it as part of his penance. He is trying to "fix" things rather than running from them like he always has.
I am not sure what the point of the Betty story was. We already know she's a shitty mother and a shitty person in general. I just love how it's 1969 (and they're on a farm) but Betty is still dressing like she's a model for Ladies Home Journal circa 1958.

It was so obvious that Bobby was thrilled to have his mother on the field trip, but in Betty's eyes he just doesn't love her because he traded her sandwich. Her world is a horrible place to live.
Don has nothing to hold on to, so I'm not surprised he accepted their terms. He took the dinner meeting with the other agency so he could get an offer letter to wave in Roger's face. Why not just take the new job with new people? Why go back to SC&P? Just to redeem himself with the people who are obviously done with him?
I think Ted and Pete would've voted him back in unconditionally.
Why does Ginsberg hate Peggy so much? Is there an incident I'm forgetting?

Meanwhile, poor little Bobby was thrilled that his mother was there. They even "had a conversation" about subjects dear to his heart like the Wolf Man.

I thought this episode was great. I was actually holding my breath for Don to get his job back. I felt how awkward that whole day in the office was.
I actually feel like a lot of people were being ungrateful in this episode, thinking only of the most recent slights and their bruised feelings instead of the bigger picture. The way Peggy, Joan, Bert treated Don for example and the way Betty treated Bobby.
