It's really hard living in the U.S. and being a fan of a lot of Italian artists. Thank goodness for the AOL streaming video (never thought I'd thank AOL for anything). I just got to see Jovanotti do a kickass version of "L'ombelico del Mondo", my favorite song of his and so perfect for Live 8. Yay!
And with Jovanotti, Ligabue and Pelu' all there, I figured they'd have to do "Il Mio Nome E' Mai Piu'", since that was a single they did together to raise awareness and funds for children in war-torn areas.
If only I hadn't missed a-ha's and Roxy Music's performances. I guess I'll have to track that down sometime in the next 6 weeks, while AOL is making the performances available.

Will the London concert be broadcast on a Canadian or US channel? Has it been already and if so are there plans for an evening rebroadcast?

I loved seeing Pink Floyd, the bits of The Who, Kanye West and Madonna tonight. Really liked the Hey Jude finale as well. Really really hate MTV and VH1 for not being smart and splitting Philly and London between the two with the other shows split into those thousand hour commercial breaks we got.
I think CMT is doing a country highlight show tommorow and VH1 Classic is supposed to be doing a reairing of it sometime soon.

Everyone, check out AOL Music for a Net rebroadcast of every city, complete and sans commercial. Thank God for the Internet, where I could download Sir Paul's complete performance right after the show thanks to a fan page. Having been a Beatlemaniac for ages, I have to say that I am amazed that the man just had his 63rd birthday. I had some outtakes from the Beatles Get Back sessions on my playlist before his Live 8 performance, and in listening to them back to back, the man's voice actually sounds, if not the same, but BETTER than it did in '69. Dude, does 30 years of pot-smoking do that? If so, pass me the bong. Also, "Helter Skelter" kicks the shit out of just about every rock performance out there.

There are no words for how much I loved Richard Ashcroft and Coldplay doing 'Bittersweet Symphony'. Best song ever.

I watched about 10 minutes of Live 8 today and turned it off. It makes me crazy when the producers treat everything like a music video. Memo to those in charge: When I watch something on TV I don't want to look at the audience. I want to watch the band. AND I really don't want to watch the cameras flip from band to audience, band to audience. Geeze I have no interest in looking at Joe and Mary Public's armpits and water bottles.

I am enjoying the Live 8 performances on AOL (Free! On demand!) Paul McCartney and George Michael singing "Drive My Car" and Robbie Williams's segment were the highlights for me. An awesome show overall. Check it out if you missed any of the performances or want to see someone again.

YAY!!! I got my tix to DMB at Red Rocks on 9/11 today!!! ;D Before you groan, you should know that I am a Deadhead who started concert-going at age 4. My parents took me to every concert they attended, from the Dead to Clapton to friggin Miami Sound Machine, lol. And I love DMB live! Going to shows is my very favorite vice. I can't even remember all of the artists I have seen play over the years. I do remember making out with a Monster from Big Head Todd... in Colorado Springs back in the day. It's been a dry spell though, and I haven't had any live music in quite a while!! However, come September I'll be seeing Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews Band, Big Head Todd and the Monsters (among others), and then I'm headed to the Vegoose Festival in Vegas over Halloween weekend. Life's been good to me so far.

Went to San Diego's Street Scene yesterday and it was great! The line-up included Hot Hot Heat, Social Distortion, Flogging Molly, The Black Eyed Peas, Garbage, Rise Against, The White Stripes, The Killers, and a lot more. It is sort of unfortunate because a lot of the groups that I liked and wanted to see were playing at the same time, so I had to pick and choose, and I usually ended up just going along with the majority of my friends to whoever they wanted to see. A big highlight for me were Hot Hot Heat; I just recently got their CD, and I love them - they were just as good live. While my friends were dead set on seeing Black Eyed Peas (though I have no idea why), I refused to miss one of my favorite bands, Flogging Molly, so I went over to their stage while my friends waited for BEP. Flogging Molly put on an amazing show (as usual). I joined my friends after, and BEP ended up being 45 minutes late, and then played a very short set. And even from where I was standing, Fergie looked like a man. Other than that, the whole concert was a blast, and I can't wait to go again next year.

I went to Lollapalooza a week-and-a-half ago in Chicago, and it was great with only a few little glitches. One of the problems was that there was a lot of sound bleeding from the other stage when you were trying to watch a band. However, this led to a really funny section when the lead singer of Brian Jonestown Massacre was heckling Dashboard Confession between DC songs. The Pixies played a great set and Weezer absolutely kicked all kinds of ass.
