I think Bruno's show was a hard act to follow. If Prince and Bruno Mars ever toured together, I would sell my children to buy great seats to that show.

I don't like Katy Perry's music but I thought she was...ok. She was enthusiastic, she seemed happy to be there and she was working hard. (Yes, the bar is low.) I'm truly amazed that she has a career. She is so gimmicky and auto-tuned (to me), although the auto-tune effect has decreased since her earlier songs. Then again, I think Taylor Swift and Rihanna have terrible, terrible singing voices so who knows.

She should've shown up in a shark costume.

So thoughtful of Blanche Deveraux to let Katy raid her closet.

She did a lovely job performing last night. Her singing voice struggled here and there, as per usual, but overall quite nice.

Katy Perry and the Fear of a Female Planet. This writer hates the song Firework and has a problem with Katy Perry's perceived lack of complexity sooooooo much! that she has deemed Katy Perry unworthy of having a part in the feminist movement or declaring her support of a presidential candidate. How DARE she?! Who does Katy Perry think she is? A woman with a working brain? Nope, not possible. Any woman who has a non-threatening brand and catchy pop songs that aren't deeeeep lyrically can't possibly have a personal life and personal thoughts that don't tie in with her pop star image according to this writer. Katy Perry has had a lot of hit songs that include more concepts than that. Part of Me, Roar, Wide Awake. These are all empowering songs, but I suppose the problem with those songs is that they are very simplistically empowering. I mean, even little girls can understand them. You know, those little girls who will become women. The fuck? Firework IS a word. And why in the hell should anyone feel self-loathing for singing a song that has this particular word in it anyway?? Yeah, I don't think Katy Perry is going to be the downfall of feminism. Something that does have a negative impact on the feminist movement is women who constantly compare and contrast women with one another and tear down the women who don't fit the particular mold of what their definition of feminism is. Oh, and excuuuuuse Katy Perry for not being an alcoholic like Sandra Fucking Dee!
