She really is pretentious. They both are. There is close to zero chance this baby won't have some utterly pretentious name that Blake will blog about as being from one of her ancestors and having great historical significance to Southern roots--and yet still somehow pay homage to Canada. May I suggest Acadiana? Or how about Evangeline? I can definitely set her going for something with a French Louisiana feel. They've spent a lot of time in New Orleans.

I feel as if she got off way too easy regarding the Plantation Chic. Someone needs to send her a copy of Ar'n't I a Woman?: Female Slaves in the Plantation South by Deborah Gray White.
She is not the first moron to romanticize the Antebellum Era, and while I do think she is ulimately responsible herself, I also think it is an indictment of our educational system on a few different levels, including ideological and political agendas, lack of perspectives in history, situated and subjective knowledge, and total fucking historical ignorance. And, I say this as a social studies teacher. I am shocked by the "presentation" of history in New York state -- what the state requires of us as teachers and the patriotic, uncritical way they want us to teach history produces people with Blake's level of awareness.
As a child actor, she probably had a different education than most students, but she is not the only person I have run across to display such ignorance about the institution of slavery.

Blakelyn Cheyenne Scarlett Siouxsannah Lively-Ryan. That sounds about right, although her husband might nix the 'Scarlett' portion...

I vote for Harmony Lyra Grace Millicient Lively-Reynolds if its a girl and Zen Orion Rocco Constantine Lively-Reynolds for a boy. Either way, I think the kid is going to have a mouthful of a name and they are going to call it some nickname that is inspired by the child's conception ("Missionary" is my top choice).
