Her cover of Vogue is HIDEOUS. They managed to eliminate two of her best assets: her long neck and legs. Only her pretty hair is evident. Her Vogue cover hasn't been shot yet. Do you mean her W cover? Because yes, it's heinous. I don't get the hype over this girl - Leighton Meester is clearly Gossip Girl's breakout star and superior in every way. Lively cannot act, constantly talks like she has marbles in her mouth and looks about 40. Her publicists definitely deserve a gold star for effort. As for how she landed the Vogue cover, she has 'The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee' coming out early next year, a highly-anticipated indie written and directed by Rebecca Miller. She plays the younger version of the title character, played by Robin Wright Penn. The whole cast is pretty awesome - Alan Arkin, Maria Bello, Monica Bellucci, Julianne Moore, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves (OK, not a great actor but HOT), Mike Binder. I'm sure they will all make Lively look all the more incompetent. Oh yeah, I meant her W cover. It's really ugly. I don't think she's a bad actor. She does need to work on her speech though.

I think Leighton Meester is the superior actress and definitely is going to go places if she wants it. That said, I think Blake Lively also has some talent. She might not be as brilliant as Leighton but I don't think Lively is really lacking greatly in anything, talent-wise or looks-wise. The only thing I find problematic about her is that weird way she speaks. I don't quite understand why she sounds like that. It seems like something that can be fixed if someone on the set would point it out to her. But I thought she was good in that Traveling Pants movie. Compared to the Gilmore Girl she's miles ahead in what she's doing.
I also think she's pretty enough. Maybe not mysteriously beautiful like Meester (who is bewitching when she has the shocking dark hair) but I don't find it strange that people would call her beautiful. She's certainly not Sarah Jessica Parker. Lively seems conventionally pretty to me. And I don't think she looks 40 like Marissa Cooper. She does have those lines around her mouth but.....I don't think middle-aged when I see her.
I also think she's able to to do that sunshiney-happy-everyone-loves-her thing without somehow irritating people which suggests to me that she does have something in the way of talent. Again, compare her to Shenae Grimes on 90210 and she's miles ahead. People talk about the Annie character being badly written but I think Lively could actually somehow make that sunshine-y-Mary-Sue character work. Stick her in that role and I think Annie wouldn't be anywhere near as annoying.

I guess in motion she doesn't look that old to me (in the Sisterhood movie she seemed like a teenager to me) although I concede she looks old in those pictures.

She is homely IMO, I don't get it when people say she is pretty. I also agree that she looks old, especially that pic of hers in the yellow dress.

I think she looks like a million other girls I've seen at the mall. People fetishize tall blondes.

I never got the Marissa-Cooper-looks-40 thing. I don't really get it with Blake, either. They both seem to have their fully-formed 'adult' faces, but 'old' to me implies wrinklies or ageing or something. They just look like grown-ups and I imagine they'll still look the same in ten years.
Changing the topic slightly, aren't Blake and Penn Badgeley always the first guesses for those blind items about the TV couple that are just together for publicity? If Blake's landing Vogue covers, it appears to be working.

They are quite private about their relationship anyway - they often go to the same events but arrive separately and are never photographed together on the red carpet.

I don't think Blake looks as old as Mischa in The OC days at all. She looks older than high school age, but not by much.

I think Blake is supremely fug. Her mouth, in particular, bugs.
