Cavill has certainly sought out a franchise to call his own. Batman hardly harmed CB's career, so maybe Cavill will escape the curse. I think that's one of the big differences to Batman vs. Superman. With Batman flicks, they always cast a very established actor in the role. The closest thing they had to a newcomer was George Clooney, because up to that point he hadn't done much film. Christian Bale already had a career before Batman, and had Batman bombed he would still have one. With Superman, someone who is generally untested usually gets cast. It's sort of a risky move, but really? It's hard to think of an established actor who would work. Also, everything about the remake with Brandon Routh was wrong. Making the movie an extension of the '80s version was a horrible decision. Every single person was miscast. There was no plot. It's just mind-boggling how much they f-up. Cavill will be fine. After everything that went wrong creatively with the Routh/Spacey remake, fans really want this reboot to do well and it will.

I actually wish Hollywood would stop making and remaking movies of every single comic book superhero known to man and give gorgeous and talented young actors like Cavill different and better projects. Yeah. I know. We're more likely to have world peace.

I'd have given up a set of wisdom teeth to see the Nicole Cage/Tim Burton version. That would have made my decade.

I like the idea of Anna Paquin. And Lord knows she's not boring. I wish there was a young actress around who has the dry sardonic wit of Sarah Gilbert. Is Miranda Cosgrove too young?

Batman, as written, at least has shades of emotion and a dramatic character arc. There's quite a bit there for an actor to work with. Superman is a hunk of wood, super good in every way. He was a good child, a good teen, and a good man. He has no weaknesses. Supe faces bad stuff; Supe wins; The End. Well, essentially that's how it is with every comic book hero, at least the big US ones - they always beat the bad guy in the end. There are complex and interesting Superman stories out there, that delve into Supe's emotions, and the movie could draw from those - something by Alan Moore, for example.

Kristen Stewart is reportedly in the running for the role of Lois Lane. I really don't have any emotional investment in this movie, but Kristen Stewart?
Talk about bland and sexless. They might as well get one of those perpetually stunned-looking Olsen twins to play the role if they are going in that direction.
Why get a sexy leading man like Henry if you are going to throw a wet blanket of a leading lady on him?

She's a marginal step up from KBos, but would be just as disastrous. Can we get someone with talent, spunk, and no nervous tics that annoy people?!

Kristin Stewart would be a disaster. I'd rather see either of the Jessicas than her in the role.

So basically a lateral move from our most recent Lois Lane. They're about on the same level acting-wise, too.
