That's what Boyfriend thinks. After they showed that painting on Sam's wall, Boyfriend remarked, "He's a werewolf." ?

Is anyone else distracted by the massive gap between AP's front teeth? Why doesn't she do Invisalign? Has she always had that gap?

I have always liked Anna Paquin, but that gap is what caused me to not bother watching the second episode. I never noticed it being that bad before. Also, her teeth looked dirty.

I was distracted by her gap in the first episode, but I'm used to it now. I think she's always had that gap. I kind of like it now. It's unique, and keeping it uncorrected does fit in with Sookie's socio-economic status.

I'm not bothered so much by the gap in her teeth as much as I am with how she plays Sookie. Okay, I haven't read the books but is Sookie always so gosh-golly-gee-aww-shucks-look-at-my-grin-aren't-I-so-cute?

You know, I think I'd be more bothered by Sookie if it wasn't for the fact that I am totally, completely, and utterly irritated by Tara/her cousin/Jason. Everytime they were on the screen my basic response was to fast forward through it (I was watching on On Demand).
My issues with them; Tara: typical stock character, badly acted. In love with a guy who won't notice her? Check. Sassy black woman? Check. Needlessly rude? Check. Has no real interaction with her "best friend" so you basically end up thinking she's just a stalker that Sookie puts up with? Check.
LaFayette: Was trying so hard to be a gangster last night, that I missed the "cross-dresser into wild parties" character from the book.
Jason: Seriously--pretty, had a funny line here and there--but again either not well written or acted. Plus I felt like the show was trying to jackhammer him in there.

Well I got the scoop on the rest of the season and it ain't pretty. I feel cheated in a way, I don't know if that is the best word "cheated" perhaps I should use "betrayed".
Still not the right word ....

I don't like this character for all the reasons you give, but I'll substitute needlessly rude with needlessly cruel. There's a difference between being brutally honest and opinionated and being just plain mean. Are we supposed to excuse her behavior because she has an alcoholic mother? Don't think so.

I'm also surprised that even now (2008, cable tv writers!) they couldn't write an Af-Am best friend who wasn't a tad more dynamic. Why bother making her black (besides the obvious fill-a-screen quota)? I kinda get that she's raging b/c her home life sucks, but her age seems skewed a little older for teen angst. Like highondegrassi said, it comes across as cruel.
I don't know, everyone on this show is painted in bright, short, neon bursts. I need them to tone a lot of it down. It doesn't have to be Anne Rice (no offense b/c I've read a lot of Rice) to do that, does it?

The thing is--and I hate to keep bringing it back to the books, but--Tara in the books is a damaged character because she comes from a broken home. So she makes a lot of bad decisions that get her into trouble--at the same time, she's also gotten away from it and built herself a life, owning her business. I don't see why they couldn't have taken the actress they'be got--and combined it with this character? The changes they've made to her are just pointless and irritating.
Have I mentioned--not a fan of the character?
