He should have sued her ass for the nutty things she's said about him years ago. I remember months ago she did an interview in PEOPLE magazine where she insisted their home in Monaco was a prison because it had a gated wall. (Yeah, wealthy communities in the USA never have gates!) She literally acted like he kept them in a prison dungeon. He should have sued her for that article too.

Right now, he's only suing Vanity Fair. Which is smart. It sends a message to other news outlets.
(Side note: If he technically does live in a gated community or home, then what she said in the above instance isn't slander. It's just her hilariously warped/melodramatic opinion.)

This just occurred to me* but this is actually a really good strategy, since Vanity Fair has a reputation for being SRS JRNLSM unlike People or In Touch or whoever else is covering the story. Also, I generally think it's important for institutions to be held accountable in their line of work. *but I'm on vacation, so whatever. I also apologize to anyone who may have already said this.

I'm not a lawyer so I don't know what counts as slander but it was a lot more offensive than just complaining the house has a gate. She basically said the gate kept them locked in at all times so they had no friends and no way to escape. She pretty much said they were in jail. Sounds slanderous to me but I guess her poor ex has learned he needs to pick his battles!

Yeah, it's always best to avoid suing the mother of your children. Going after the publication is a much smarter, more productive move. Also, I was curious, so I looked up the People article again, awesomely titled Children in a Fortress: Hilarious! But not slanderous on her part. Notice how People, not Kelly, describe the home? There are some choice adjectives there, sure, but it's probably technically accurate. Meanwhile, "a source" recounts the horrors of bicycle cops and professional landscaping. Damn, this house in Monaco sounds just like the one Dracula held Jonathan Harker hostage in.

I think that description applies to the houses of every wealthy person (i.e., nearly everyone) in Monaco. Oh, the horror!!!

Can I just say that way of living sounds AWESOME. I have Asperger's Syndrome and hate being surrounded by neighbours. I would love a place like that. I'd be super jealous of those children, if they weren't stuck in a batshit custody battle that probably won't end until the youngest is 18.
What I'd like to know is, how different would their lives be if their mom had gotten custody and they lived in the USA? Kelly was very wealthy from her TV roles. Are we supposed to believe they wouldn't be living in a gated community with private property, basically just like in Monaco? Are we supposed to believe Kelly would live in a trailer park with twenty other trailers so her kids could spend all day running around with the neighbours?

Whenever I hear about nasty custody battles I start to understand a little why people go the sperm donor route.

I'm just really happy that the children are in a safe, loving, supportive and stable home.
I do laugh how Kelly/her team has portrayed where they live as basically "the slums of Monaco". That never fails to make me chuckle.

Yeah. Monaco is basically Rich People: The Country. The poor people are the millionaires, and the commoners commute in from Italy and France.
