Gorgeous (and thanks for the pics, mochakitty!) but absolutely batshit.
Friend's best friend was PA for one of her ex-boyfriends, and I always heard bizarre stories about things she did post-breakup to win him back.

Love her but I find it bizarre and she used to date Ashton Kutcher of all People.
Do tell Regency?

She's got a really cool name. I'm still not completely sure of her abilities as an actress, but Betty is definitely one of the most fascinating characters on Mad Men.
That's about all I got...am very curious to hear the batshit stories.

January Jones really kills it in the scenes in Mad Men in which she is playing cracked (shooting the birds, being with that weird kid with a crush on her), but in the other scenes in which she is supposed to be "the dream", the Grace Kelly to Don's Cary Grant, she's kind of a drip. I didn't see her as remotely attractive or interesting or with any X-Factor in the Coke modeling shoot. I actually don't buy her as a model at all, as she lacks the kind of spark such people require. Ultimately, she does not have a great deal of range (being more of the melancholic sort) and I am not surprised that a woman as pretty as she is took so long to get her break.
Someone from another board used to live next door to her when she was dating Josh Groban. He said January was mean to her dog and was in general, difficult, and eventually, Josh (about whom he had nothing but nice things to say) would not get out of his Porsche after their dates instead of walking her to the door or staying over.

Apparently, she had boundary issues. Post-break up, there were a lot of obsessive phone calls, and occasionally showing up at his house, for months on end. I'm almost positive my friend mentioned that he had to change his number at one point.
I heard a lot of stories on and off, but one incident that really stands out in my mind is when she found out that he would be attending a Dodgers game with a new girl. She went out of her way to attend with some random guy, and it became this awkward couple of hours of them trying to repeatedly one up each other in terms of PDA. My friend was at the game with the ex's group, and said she suffered second hand embarrassment for everyone involved.
I can get wanting that chance to win your ex back, and maybe eventually wanting to show him up, but my friend said that most of her tactics bordered on creepy desperation. Her calls and visits really came off to the ex and his family/friends/team as a Lindsay Lohan/Sam Ronson "Talk to me because I just can't live without yoooooooou" situation. Unsurprisingly, her ex looked really stressed out and unhealthy throughout this whole thing.
In terms of her acting, Mad Men is the only thing I've liked her in. She's been completely forgettable in everything else.

Oh, I love her, so I hate hearing bad things! Hopefully she's grown up a lot since her stalking days, but if she was mean to a dog...that makes me sad. I do think she is absolutely stunning. She is a beautiful woman, but as Betty Draper she is breathtaking, IMO. I think she does a great job with the role; I know that many people have commented on what they regard as a rather lackluster performance, but I think it fits the character perfectly. Betty is repressed, lonely, and totally disillusioned with her life. The life she is leading is not the life she imagined she would have, so she has to maintain the facade of the perfect Stepford housewife (although there are obviously times when there are some serious cracks) while she's falling apart inside. She's also incredibly child-like -- even when she finally stood up to Don, she seemed to have a kind of naivete about her. That scene between her and Glenn in the parking lot, as creepy as it is, never fails to make me tear up a bit. I feel so sorry for her sometimes. This is not to say that I don't get annoyed with her character at times, but overall I feel a great deal of sympathy for her.

I used to work at an upscale lingerie store in downtown Manhattan Beach, CA. One day January came in to shop and I was helping her. I knew who she was, but didn't say anything. Finally, I was ringing her up and asked for her ID. She gave me a dirty look and said "don't you know who I am?" I explained to her that I did, but its policy to ask for ID with a CC purchase. She whipped it out, scoffed and walked away. This was in 2006 before Mad Men was on the air, so I totally believe all the rumors about her being psycho and mean. She certainly wasn't nice to me.

Oh no! I can't read this thread, I love her on Mad Men so much. I'll just stick my fingers in my ears and pretend she's as nice and cool as I've always imagined.
I've always thought she's one of the standouts on Mad Men. Everyone always goes on and on about Elisabeth Moss, and I actually think she's the one giving the lackluster performance, whereas I can't imagine anyone else playing Betty Draper, and always look forward to scenes with January. The scene with Glen in the parking lot was one of the best scenes I've ever seen on TV. And I thought the whole "lack of spark" in the modeling scene was on purpose--that was the point of the whole episode, that she's not that model girl anymore, that happy carefree person, because she's trapped in this stifling, depressing mess of a life.

That's a telling story, ashbridgelane. I had no idea who she was before Mad Men. Looking over her resume, I'm not exactly sure why she would think anyone else would either.
