I don't find him talented and the comparisons to some of the more talented acts who are just a little younger than me are totally off.
Thankfully, I don't have kids to have to put up with his lack of singing ability.

It doesn't compute in my brain that he is 16. Every time I see or hear him I'm like "Oh, there goes that 11-year-old singer again."

I'll admit to having "Baby" stuck in my head more than once. Bieber may have ridiculous hair and look younger than his age, but I get why his songs would be popular. The Jonas Brothers just sounded and looked like they were in pain whenever they were singing.

I really want that post-emo haircut for boys and young men to just Go Away.

The Hansons actually made good music. Could anything Justin Bieber does trump "Mmm-bop" and "Where's the Love"? I don't think The Hansons got the kind of respect Justin Bieber is getting. He's working with some major big-wigs and is being hailed as a major talent. Why? No clue from my end. The Hansons were okay because no one Usher's age was saying they were mega-talented and forces to be reckoned with. Although the middle Hanson kid looked young at 14 (and, well, kind of girly) he did seem to mature into looking like more of a man by the time he hit 16. Justin Bieber is unusually young looking. And, yeah, I don't remember boys at 16 when I was in high school looking that ....wee. Hanson rock. I was also a fan and check into their website every now and then. I was always ashamed that I was just way too old to like Hanson, however, I was attracted to their talent and their integrity at the time, particularly in the context of the other teen stars that lacked integrity during the 1997-1999 era. As a Canadian, I am happy for Justin Beiber, however, that doesn't mean I think he is talented. I am happy, however, that he has taken away the shine that the Jonas Brothers had. I hate them. They always seem so full of themselves. Is there a reason why we don't hear about the Jonas Brothers anymore? Are they on hiatus or has their popularity decreased? Please, please tell me it is the latter.

It's the former, though the latter is probably not untrue, at least to some extent. The youngest one has done a solo CD and the oldest one got married last December, so I guess he's busy making up for all that time he wore the purity ring. They say they aren't breaking up for good but I doubt much of the fanbase will be left by the time they get around to reuniting.
But back to Justin: he will be the musical guest on this week's SNL (Tina Fey hosts).

He does annoy me less than The Jonas Brothers, I must admit, whose success COMPLETELY baffles me.

Does anyone else think Justin looks like Jane Fonda? Me? It's extremely odd.
And what is the deal with "artists" with limited ability being propped up lately? I know he's on Usher's new label and Usher and Timberlake got into a bidding war apparently for this kid. Which makes me question the sanity of both men.

I was wondering when CPMCoG was going to start a thread on this so-called adolescent. I thought about starting one, but I was too embarrassed plus I'm not a fan. [smallvoice]I downloaded "Baby" though[/smallvoice].
On the People magazine cover between the haircut and the barracuda mouth, I too do not understand how he became a teen idol. What will he be like when he's 18 or 21? I don't see him aging well TBTH.

I bought tickets for my stepdaughter to see the little shit in July. It's funny, as I get older and am parenting, I get annoyed at suggestive things directed at my kids. His one song about his first slow dance, and how he says he'll be "gentle?" Little boy, SIT DOWN. I hate it but I have become That Parent.
