I think it's hilarious being that he is Canadian. (his lack of fame in Canada)
The first I heard of him was a poster outside a clothing store in my (Canadian) city. I thought he was 8.
(contemplates committing Hari Kari because I just posted in the Justin Bieber thread)...

OT, but I find that hilarious. Poor Canada, with your little upstart gossip magazine. It was funny as hell. Half the pics were in black and white. Probably because they couldn't afford a color printer. It was called "Weekly Scoop". I distinctly remember buying an issue because I figured the magazine wouldn't be around long and I wanted something to remember it by. I ended up losing that issue though. Ha. I mean, I love Canada, but, there ain't no market for a Canadian gossip rag. Topic-Justin Beiber's pic on this week's PEOPLE magazine is really, really scary. His mouth is so big he looks like Cameron Diaz with a bad haircut. I have to say though, I don't hate him. He has not said anything particularly pervy or nasty (yet). He seems bland and inoffensive for the most part. I'm surprised he's not represented by Disney.

I just heard him for the first time on SNL, and I thought the song, whatever it was, was catchy and fun. Probably not fun enough to buy or download, but I might find myself doing the invisible bop-along if I hear it when I'm out and about.

I disapprove of his unironic use of "a'ight."
Tina Fey's face when he went in for that hug at the end was hilarious.

I disapprove of his unironic use of "a'ight." What about his penchant for using "shawty" in his songs? I think I hate his music based on that alone. It's just not right for a kid with a 12-year-old-sounding voice to be singing about his 'shawty.' Just no.

What's a "shawty"?
Does any Canadian on the planet actually sound like Justin Bieber when he or she speaks? I've never met any Canadian with his accent.

No, we Canadians don't sound like Justin because Justin is trying to appeal to the urban/pop market by emulating "urban" music acts. That accent is not his accent or the accent of anyone Canadian because he is attempting to sound black - or his version of black from what he sees on tv.

Yeah, it's a Canadian accent by way of Usher with a touch of Timberlake circa 2002.
