She was profiled on "I Love the 90s", and they talked about how the farting/nosepicking/etc. was working for her until that Candies ad where she was sitting on the toilet with a goofy, pained, constipated look on her face. Then maybe she went too far.
But I have a soft spot for people who take risks for the sake of comedy, in this case at least.
What do we think of her new UPN sitcom? I've only seen it twice. It wasn't bad, wasn't fantastic.

I bought her pregnancy book for a pregnant friend (I skimmed through it and found it to be extremely readable and pretty engaging) who loved it. The more clinical books kept freaking her out but she was able to read Jenny's tales of constipation and stretch marks.
Add me to the list of those who like her but aren't sure why. Her routine annoyed the hell out of me, but I find her to be very watchable and likeable. I haven't seen her sitcom (when does it come on?) but I think she is a good host for those E! programs.

I read an interview of hers about ten years ago where she talked about getting stretch marks airbrushed off of her butt in her Playboy photographs. Not to get too tmi or anything, but I was going through puberty at the time and greatly appreciated her candor.

Compared to the famewhores of today - anorexia, orangeness, uber-sexiness - Jenny was a nice change. Annoying at times, yes, but still different. from the required skankiness seemingly required of today's young female slebs.

I dunno about Pam Anderson though. IMO she concentrates on her self a lil too much. Boobs and all.
But I've like Jenny every since her MTV days, she seems down to earth.

Yes! I don't get it either! I'm usually against all of the famewhorey plastic-ness/crazy in-your-face sex lives (Carmen and Pam, at least) but ITA with that. I watched Carmen's E! THS and felt really sorry for her and ended up liking her a lot.

I think it comes down to Carmen and Jenny both being nice Midwestern girls.
However I did feel bad for Jenny's sisters after I read that people at their HS basketball games chanted "Playboy!" when they were trying to shoot free throws.

I know someone who was a regular on her short-lived NBC sitcom. He didn't have a lot of positive things to say about the whole experience, but he seemed to think that Jenny was all right. He had one of those "now tell me again: just why is she a celeb?" impressions of her. She doesn't bother me so much, but off the top of my head I can think of half a dozen actresses who are more attractive/funnier/sexier than she is, and they don't have a tenth of the fame Jenny does.

With most people, I like their work and am disappointed to learn what giant tools they are in real life.
With Jenny McCarthy, I had the reverse experience. I hated her act on that MTV version of Love Connection (Singled Out, was it called?). She just annoyed the living hell out of me. And yet, in every other instance where I've seen/heard her, she strikes me as a reasonable human being, or at least, one who doesn't take herself so seriously. This may have been the result of the extremely low expectations I had of her from Singled Out, but still, that's where my Jenny McCarthy soft spot comes from.

mutagen, I have the same experience. I hated her on Singled Out. She seemed like an annoying bimbo. But then as time went on, she seemed sort of nice and down to earth and didn't take herself seriously. She never once attempted to act in serious movies. It's like she knows her place in Hollywood and she's perfectly content with it. I like that.
I feel the same way about The Rock. Jenny McCarthy & the Rock may annoy me in their early endeavors but I believe they're nice people and I wish them the best.
