Ah, yeah. I forgot about the busted knee and Uggs era during that one tour that ended up being canceled. And her getting sloppy'ish drunk at film fests and stuff like that. I also remember her buying a shot off some vendor and doing it in the streets, and her fans arguing that it was wheatgrass or some other healthy thing, LOL. That was also back when people were still debating on whether or not she could sing and if she had talent.
I do remember now thinking that during that time her behavior seemed really immature... though pretty benign compared to what some celebs do when they hit her level of fame. And kind of amusing, because it was mostly harmless (I was holding a cigarette for a friend! It was wheatgrass! My doctor said it was fine to run through sand and go surfing with a busted knee! It's really busted!). Her sister was pretty bratty in the media (I remember her constantly being quoted as saying something along the lines of "Buy my CD! Now!," and I think some of that attitude was rubbing off on her big sis.
Oh well. We all know now that it escalated pretty quickly.

Yes, I guess now it seemed mostly immature and benign, but back then, I just wanted her to go away. I admit I found her songs very catchy and actually bought her album well at least the first one. (I believe it was one of my "free" choices with either BMG or Columbia House since I would use fake names to be able to keep doing those buy ___, get ___ free deals.) I also later obtained her other albums later. I just never bought into the hype that she was going to be the next Madonna. So it was bad enough that a lot of stans were defending her singing and hailing her as some kind of genius, but then she was still being called one of the sexiest women even with the cooter shorts, the Cheetos, and the other tacky behavior, so I always loved being on Team Calvin then and reading all the wonderful snarkiness. Anyhow, I saw this at another website, and it reminded me of the "good old days". From Britney's Facebook, lol, the "I am the Captain now" reminds me when B. Wicked or whatever it was her thing after she just saw Wicked. I think there was something about tigers at one time back then because of William Blake and something about Anna Nalick's Breathe. (I can't believe I still remember all of this. )

I still want her to go away. For her sake and humanity's. I don't really care if she seems sweet, harmless, or ill. She is so untalented and her pop star days should be over. Her performances are not only horrible and sub-par, but she's going through the movements as if there were a gun to her head. So uncomfortable.

I saw this and smiled. Sorry. I just remember those pics of them with the alien masks (?). Was Lynne involved in that? I am transported back to a time of cooter shorts, trucker hats, Red Bull, "I Am the American Dream" tshirt, the weird topknot pics of her shopping at Shabby Chic, and of course, this. And this. I was searching for the pics of her in slobby sweatpants and no bra, schlepping around a mall with a VS bag. Why do I remember this? I was never on Team Calvin.

Ha! I KNEW the first pic was going to be the falling down skirt/barefeet photo! I could just FEEL the blue underwear vibe coming through the hyperlink.

I drank so many Redbulls, Starbucks frappucinos, and gorged on Cheetos, red velvet cake and ham, thanks to her thread on FT. Team Calvin 4-eva, y'all!

Good gravy, has it been 10 years? I miss the letters from her mom, that were all,"ladies, who hasn't been there..." followed by whatever Britney was up to as she unraveled.

Who could forget the lead-up to the epic Letter Of Truth, the preparation of which was "like Harvard"? Then, when it finally emerged, the contents were basically, "I love lounging with my foine hubby, reading US Weekly and watching Sex and the City reruns. Also, I have been working my ass off for years and am ready to take a break." Deep. Then there was this. Wasn't that the source of the infamous "COME TO ME MOTHERCHUCKERS" interview? Throwing milkshakes. And sodas.Ah yes.

Oh good times, you guys. I remember those FT days! Her "Pimps" and "Maids" sweatsuits for the wedding party, the reception menu (in addition the red velvet cake, wasn't there a spirited FT debate about ambrosia salad), the hanging out with Paris Hilton/exploding peanut butter in the car, the wigs and accents, the trading bathing suits with the guests at the Chateau Marmont pool...
Oh I could go on....
