His stuff is catchy enough, but it always sounds like a rip-off of some other musician. If I were to describe his sound, I wouldn't be able to do it beyond comparing him to other artists. Sometimes he sounds like Prince, sometimes Sting, sometimes Maroon 5, sometimes Michael Jackson, etc. He's kind of like Gaga that way. Obviously he has lots of talent, but his career so far has been a lot of mimicry. This was like 90% of the reason I sort of liked "Gorillas," because it was the first of his radio singles that didn't immediately make me think of some other song. Not saying it was the greatest or most original song of all time, but I didn't have that immediate "Oh... the Police" or "Oh... Morris Day" thought. I actually think, derivativeness and all, he pulls together some really solidly catchy songs. I don't roll my eyes at his rip-off moments as much as I do with other artists -- this might sound silly, but he conveys some real affection and enthusiasm for the sources he's drawing from. I still wish he'd carve out more of an individual sound, but I can live with what he's doing, I guess.

Yes! I had the exact same reaction to "Gorillas." (Well, that and my other reaction was, "Damn! There is some mature situations and sexual content going on in the lyrics here, yet it's on the radio? Cray.")

I own all of his albums and really like his music probably because it is very derivative of the music I love. But, it's really well done derivative - masterfully played and produced with buckets of enthusiasm in the performance. Rock on, Bruno!

I'll never forget seeing his Super Bowl performance, and how he completely owned that shiz. Everyone was all, "Red Hot Chili Peppers WHO?" and honestly, I felt a little bad for the RHCP because they just seemed so blah in comparison.
Of course, I've grown to loathe RHCP after hearing Under the Bridge fourteen million times.
I like Bruno and his songs. Gorillas still kinda puzzles me, but overall I really enjoy him on sheer energy alone.

I was scared to come in here. Thought my crush was about to die! Every time I see him on TV, I want to reach into my TV, and put him in my pocket. He'd be like a little Polly Pocket that I can pull out every time I want him to sing and dance for me. Dance for me, Bruno!

I liked Uptown Funk a lot but man, I could NOT stop mentally humming " Jungle Love" whenever it came on. Am I an old? If you're old then I'm ancient, because when you mentioned "Jungle Love" my first thought was the Steve Miller Band song, circa 1977 - 1978.

I liked Uptown Funk a lot but man, I could NOT stop mentally humming " Jungle Love" whenever it came on. Am I an old? So glad you mentioned the similarity. I do the exact same thing... all the way through the talking part: "C'mon baby, where's your guts? You wanna make love or what?" Once again it's a "groove" similarity, not a straight up copy. I still think that jury that called "Blurred Lines" a rip off was wrong. There is less similarity between that on "Got To Give It Up" then there is here, and I don't see Morris Day making a damn fuss.

Should have given the damn thing to Bruno again anyway. I was dozing off until he appeared. Coldplay had no business at this thing.

Bruno and Beyonce were hot. It's a shame Chris Martin had to be there.

Bruno and Beyoncé for the win. Bruno was all sorts of awesome as soon as he started. I was like......poor Coldplay. Lead singer of Coldplay did seem like he was having a bouncing good time. I wasn't until Bruno appeared! Little man is a showman for sure!
