Good choice. He's got a wide age range of fans, he can sing live, and he and his band put on a fun visual show.

That is an excellent choice. He is consistently one of the best performances at award shows in the last few years and he's had some great hits. I like that the Superbowl seem to be getting more current. I wonder if Timberlake is pissed though. Mars is having the career he wants right now.

I imagine JT would have been asked before they asked Bruno. Bruno, while a great performer, has been around for about five minutes - I just doubt he would've been the first choice. I don't see why Justin would want Bruno's career, either. Bruno's still working to build up a solid fanbase; and JT's is set already. The 20/20 Experience has sold almost twice as much as Unorthodox Jukebox in the US.

The 20/20 Experience has sold almost twice as much as Unorthodox Jukebox in the US. If not for Nipplegate, Justin would be a shoo-in, but considering the absolute shitstorm that caused in America, I don't think ten years is long enough for the NFL to forgive him and offer a second chance. Bruno is popular and his major televised performances seem to go over well, but he's a bit of a newbie career-wise, compared to the typical Super Bowl halftime show performer. With the game being in New York/New Jersey area, I'm surprised they didn't just ask Springsteen again or maybe Jay Z. In terms of young, current music stars there aren't that many options. The Super Bowl isn't just watched by football nuts but Taylor Swift's still rather twee for that audience. Carrie Underwood doesn't have enough crossover success. I was thinking maybe Coldplay, but they're kind of wet. Gaga's seen as annoyingly weird by the general public now, and the NFL would be leery of her doing something controversial. Plus there's the same problem that other female pop stars would have, that the game takes place outdoors in the New York metro area in February, so that rules out everyone who likes performing in leotards. Pink might not be a terrible choice. Adele isn't very flashy, though if her next album has a few more mid-to-uptempo hits along the lines of "Rolling in the Deep" or "Set Fire to the Rain", her set might be energetic enough for what you'd want in a halftime show.

Great choice! He's always a lot of fun at award shows. That utmost barometer of pop culture, my mother, was really charmed by his Grammys performance last year.
He's really talented but like others have mentioned, his derivative-ness keeps me from unabashedly loving him. I can't fault him for his taste in influences, but he crosses from homage into plain regurgitation sometimes ("Locked out of Heaven" being the worst offender for me). As he matures I hope he can shake off the "best student in the class" quality of his songwriting and just go for his own thing.

He is seriously SOOOO good live! He has sooo much energy and his band just adds to the mix. When his concert ended it felt like 5 minutes had gone by and we all wanted more. I think he would do an amazing job.

Or Bon Jovi, which seemed like a no-brainer to me (local, stadium-proven, gloriously cheesy. ). The Bruno pick is intriguing, but I agree it feels too soon for him to land such a gig.

His Saturday Night Live episode is on right now. I remember he did a great job. Loved his monologue. I think he'd be a great halftime performer. I saw him in concert and was really impressed. Great show, really strong stage presence, totally enjoyable show. I hope this is true.

I did a double take when I read this only because Bruno has been around for a relatively short time. I've never seen him perform on award shows or in concert, but reading all of the comments he seems like a great choice. I could see some in the business being a bit miffed that he gets such a coveted gig. Although as was mentioned, others were probably already asked and turned it down. Actually, I'm laughing to myself because this really has to be bugging some artists who have been around longer. Hehehe I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for him because earlier this year, my tap dance class performed in a recital to "Runaway Baby". As an adult over 30 years old, it takes a lot of courage to willingly perform in a recital that has the vast majority of other classes with students from 2 years old to high school age. Our adult class did our thing and performing to "Runaway Baby" made it lots of fun. For some reason, I'm on a "When I was Your Man" kick lately. Nothing revolutionary about the song, but I'm just really digging it.
