And according to IMDb she's still working steadily in TV & film, so I think she's doing alright. Commercials are easy money and I think there's less of a stigma around doing them lately.

So maybe b/c it's been on my mind a lot--but I hate the Buick commercials. But the one that bothers me the most is the couple spying on their neighbors new car. And it's the assumption that the husband with the new car got a raise;
Spying Husband: Maybe he got a raise...good for him Spying Wife: (with a raised eyebrow) "Good for her..." the implication being that now the husband earning more money can buy her more stuff, unlike her husband who needs to get on the ball.
So let me get this straight, in 2014/2015, when women make up 50% of the workforce it's ok still to assume that it's the husband who got the raise? And tee-hee now he can buy stuff for the wife like a new car? Yay!

The one thing I like about that commercial is that at the beginning, they give a Hispanic surname for the neighbors with the enviable new car, IIRC.

It isn't a new commercial, but I hate the Bayer aspirin commercial where the guy on a plane mimes to an Asian attendant that his back hurts and asks if she has anything for pain. She answers - in perfect American-accented English - that she's got some Bayer aspirin. The guy, still freaking miming, tells her "No, no. I'm not having a heart attack. My. Back. Hurts." She has to explain to him - again, in perfect English - that she is giving him a pain killer.
First of all, the dumbass needed to quit the miming and speaking slowly when it was clear that she spoke English fluently. Second, what sort of dumbass doesn't know that aspirin is a painkiller? And why does he believe that the flight attendant got confused because people having a heart attack usually just calmly ask for an aspirin?
Way too much dumbassery in one commercial.

The more I see it the more I really hate the Walgreens commercial about prescription drug coverage with the older lady getting a pedicure. She looks out the window and sees that right across the street there's a place giving pedis for just $10 while she's about to pay $20. So as soon as the person working on her turns she's up and out of there and heading across the street. It bothers me because she's already been given some services and looks to be at least partway done, but she leaves presumably without paying for it. It irks me.

I know it's just a cartoon, but those bears with binoculars who ogle Charmin toilet paper through a neighbors window disturb the ever lovin' crap out of me.

Not only that, she's walking across the street to the other nail salon barefoot! I guess that's okay in whatever small town this is with really clean streets.

McDonald's has released a new commercial, dubbed "Signs", which show lovely little messages on the boards under the golden arches while a children's choir tackles "Carry On". I roll my eyes whenever it comes on. I'm glad the managers at individual stores are nice people but that doesn't change the fact McDonald's treats their employees rather poorly. Or that their food is overpriced and sucks.

I roll my eyes whenever it comes on. I'm glad the managers at individual stores are nice people but that doesn't change the fact McDonald's treats their employees rather poorly. Or that their food is overpriced and sucks. My dad totally hates that commercial, too. I mostly don't look, so it's just a pretty piece of music (albeit one accompanied by disgruntled noises from my dad.) I have to break my habit of not-watching commercials for the McDonalds "love" commercials with the animated nemeses, though--they make me want to WATCH and see all the pairings. It's a neat idea, it's stylishly done, and let's face it, it takes a corporate behemoth to spring for all the licensing fees for the Smurfs and Freddy and Jason and Grumpy Cat and whoever. Also really like the tax commercial with the French song and the runaway bride and the wedding planner tripping over the dove cage and whatnot. The first time I saw it, the long version, it was sublime. I feel like the ending doesn't hit quite the right note, though--the bridesmaid looks a little too happy, like she's been crushing on the groom all along and if the original wedding had taken place, she would have ended up stalking and seducing her friend's husband.
