I think it's BS because CT is not very popular, despite what every tabloid would have you believe (are these stories paid to be printed?). Look at her recent films, or any of her films that wasn't Monster. She has played minor characters. This is just the case of an actress thinking she is bigger than she really is. She hit a very high note with Monster, but that was it. One hit wonder looking for fame at any cost.

I disagree, I think she was amazing in North Country, Young Adult, Arrested Development (where she appeared to have more of a sense of humor and self awareness, at least), The Cider House Rules... Heck, she is the only reason Devil's Advocate is worth watching (Al Pacino's hamming it up aside, my point is she was a total stand out). She definitely has acting talent.
I just wish she wasn't so... well, herself. In real life. I guess she really is a great match for Sean Penn after all.

Well, since starring in Monster she's been nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award for stuff like Young Adult and North County. And she produces. Not too shabby. She was the face of Dior. She was on Arrested Development, which is a beloved show. She has some doozies on her resume, like Aeon Flux, but her career isn't a bomb. Monster was over ten years ago. She is still getting cast. She has more on her plate than other Oscar winners from around her time (Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Swank).
I always thought she was an okay actress, not a great one. I could see her working for awhile with that.
Eta: oop. Someone said it all before me, hah.

O/T I fear we are going to be seeing a lot more of Laura Jean Poon, because of Wild. I feel like she is this years Matthew McC. Topic: Charlize is still an asshole.

I think she is a great actress but I am disappointed in her, even if these stories are not true or embellished. She always seemed to me to be the kind of woman you don't want to mess with.

The internet will never let Laura Jean Poon die. She could win a dozen Oscars but she will forevermore be Laura Jean Poon.
I respect Charlize as an actress but she's never come across as a great person to me. And people are appalled by her dating Sean Penn, but she's always dated jerks. The guy from Third Eye Blind who oozed smarm and Stuart Townsend has a bad rep and has been fired from some movies. I think Charlize has been able to fly under the radar and has kept a low profile but now that she's with SP there is much more attention and her true personality is out there.

I always figured she was a little icy, but didn't know she was a mega bitch.
She's very good in interviews, though, much like Laura Jeanne Poon. They both seem quite likeable on TV.
As she ages, I assume these stories are going to become more frequent. People are going to be a lot less forgiving, once she ceases to be the young glamorous actress.

Heh. I saw the headline and thought it was referring to Sean.
