Honestly, if I were the writers I'd simply stop covering her. She can't handle the negative attention when someone DOESN'T LIKE HER OUTFIT, then fine, no coverage. She shows up at the Oscars? Too bad, pretend she's not there. Tony's? Anyplace? Nope, she doesn't exist. The Fug girls cover awards shows for magazines and I believe have a certain amount of clout in the fashion world.

Worst part of this whole thing to me? She didn't even do her due diligence and scrub her twitter of shit like this. She retweeted this less than 2 weeks ago. When it's positive complements alluding to her naked body, it's just fine. Jeez. What a twit.

When it's positive complements alluding to her naked body, it's just fine. Jeez. What a twit. Yeah, apparently it is okay to comment on an celeb's outfit only as long as you say nice things. You can't have it both ways, Olivia. Sorry, no. The Fug Girls have always been very careful to avoid things like body-shaming (and this is really rich coming from Munn who has a history of calling her critics "fat" and fat-shaming in general). It's always about the clothes. Sometimes about a bad makeup job, but that's as close as a comment on the body that they get. She can't try to reference #MeToo in this and can't compare what they do to the male gaze women have to deal with. This is kind of the whole point of photo calls and red carpets. Designers give celebs clothes for free to get some advertising out of it, and people look at the pictures that the celebs posed for in their free, expensive clothes and decide if they like it or not. The end. Otherwise there is absolutely no point to photo calls/red carpets. Just have people do press junkets to give little mini interviews wearing whatever they want. ETA: I agree with what Tom and Lorenzo said - that this is Munn punching down, and she knew that she was siccing her fans on them. Because they didn't like her outfit. ETA Again: Because this is apparently sticking in my craw - she seems to get in the middle of nonsense like this regularly (go back to page one of her thread and you see people talking about...Olivia upset over an article that criticized her). I remember when she was on the Daily Show and was terrible, there was this whole "women should support each other" and "female comedians should support other female comedians" thing going around. When that is just a weirdo idea of feminism and actually the opposite of it. Don't support Olivia Munn on The Daily Show because she's not funny, not because she's a woman. That's how it works. If she had said something like "I think it is ridiculous that I am expected to cultivate a "brand" and hire a stylist and wear expensive clothes when I am just an actor. People should be focused on my craft" that would be fine. But you can't slam rather fair-minded bloggers as "vicious" and anti-feminist and hurting women because they don't like your outfit while you retweet someone else praising something you wore. Long story short, she bugs me.

If she wasn’t such a bland cipher to me, she’d bug me too.

In principle I don't think fashion criticism should be immune to pushback, but this is a pretty clear "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" situation on Olivia's part. I agree that she's punching down, and I'm glad that has backfired on her. Kathy Griffin decided to weigh in on this with such a hypocritical and un-self-aware take that I really hope I'm missing a joke.

Kathy, girl, we all remember Fashion Police. You were on it.
Also? Your whole schtick is talking shit about celebrities (and not just their clothes).

Kathy, girl, we all remember Fashion Police. You were on it. How many comedy specials has Kathy Griffin done where the only content is dragging celebrities on a very personal level? She has zero business sticking her nose in this. Zoe Kazan, OTOH, has positive things to say about the Fug Girls, even after they critiqued her. I searched through the GFY site for Olivia, and she dresses tacky as hell. And I also think that getting drastic plastic surgery to your face then telling people you just ate some Japanese potatoes is way more harmful and disingenuous than whatever the Fug Girls are doing. This totally did not go over the way OM expected, did it? She probably sat there on her phone typing this out thinking "I'm going to take these bitches down!" and instead an outpouring of love and appreciation for H&J. I feel bad for what H&J are probably getting in their in box, but they've got to feel the love!

H&J definitely feel the love, their first tweet after the story broke was a Golden Girls gif of the girls having a nice group hug.

I feel bad for what H&J are probably getting in their in box, but they've got to feel the love! Yeah, that whole Japanese potatoes thing was a real head-scratcher other than it is clearly another example of how she can't just ignore any criticism of her. But I don't know why she felt the need to explain the changes in her appearance, and why she decided to give a reason that was clearly BS. People noted her jawline changed. She said it's because she lost weight while training for the X-Men movie. Okay, I can buy that. People say, "Hey, your freckles are gone" and instead of ignoring those comments or saying something like, "Yeah, I didn't like them so I had them lasered off. No big whoop. People get rid of things they don't like all the time" she spun some yarn about getting rid of them by using glycolic acid pads on her face several times a day. Which...buh? It doesn't quite work like that. Especially not without really irritating the rest of your skin. She admitted to getting rid of her freckles, but why lie about the method? Is it more "real" if you did it yourself at home versus having a dermatologist do it? Then people say "All the lines on your face are gone" and again, she could/should just ignore that. But instead she said it's because she ate a lot of hyaluronic acid-rich potatoes. Which, again, does not result in that sort of change (sadly. It would be great if it did). It does seem to help a little, but only a little and only after a long time of eating them. Otherwise people taking hyaluronic acid supplements would all be glowing and wrinkle-free and the supplements would fly off the shelves. In Olivia's case I'm sure hyaluronic acid played a part, but it was injected directly into her face and not added to her diet. Again, why pull that out when you have to know people are going to call BS? She's clearly deeply insecure. And somewhere in her rant, there is a point about how actresses are expected to present themselves, but she chose the wrong target, accused them of things they really don't do, and tried to ramp the severity of her injury by trying to raise it to the level of the #MeToo movement, which...no. My favorite response to that was DListed's "If you wonder what the surface of Pluto feels like, ask Olivia because that's how far she had to reach for this."
