I don't know about you, Chris, but I don't want to live in a world where an ass like Tracy Morgan can joke about stabbing a gay kid and people think he's being persecuted when he gets called out on it.

Fuck you Chris Rock if you back up a homophobic who says he plands to stab his own kid. And poor kid if that kid ever would turn out to be gay. Talk about never ever coming out of the closet to your parents. The fear of parents' hostile reactions are a big reasons why alot of closeted gays never come out (which is also why I hate how some people try to out celebs they suspect is gay)

I get what Chris Rock is saying to the extent that Tracy has built a career on saying crazy/inappropriate things. And I think a lot of comedians in general are touchy about anyone being censored because a lot of them base their comedy on touchy material and so they lean heavily on the "freedom of speech" thing.
But even considering those factors, people can still go too far. Tracy went too far. Just like no one was all, "Come on! Freedom of speech!" when Michael Richards went on his N-word rant. Because he too went too far. There's stuff that is edgy/shocking but still funny, and then there's stuff that's just hateful. It's a very fine, difficult line to walk, and I think Tracy fell over on the wrong side of it.
And the fact that this happened in Tennessee with their recent ridiculous legislation about even talking about gays in school just makes it that much worse.

Tracy should've realized that the times are different and what jokes he could've gotten away with 20 years ago cannot be said on stage today. Hell, Andrew Dice Clay was lambasted for telling homophobic jokes in 1990.
TBTH, I only thought Tracy Morgan was funny when he said that line during the 2008 primaries: "Bitch may be the new black, but black's the new president, bitch." Otherwise, he's as relevant a comedian today as Simbad.

I wouldn't mind if he got fired from 30 Rock. He has always been the weakest link anyway (even though his character improved in the later seasons compared to the first season when he was downright annoying.) Alec Baldwin is and will always be the best part of 30 Rock IMHO, and I think the show would improve without Tracy Morgan.

Chris Rock is either trying to save face or had a change of heart and is now condemning Tracy: Wanda Sykes - gay-married with kids herself - had the following to say: The "Ro" she's referring to is CNN's Roland Martin, who wrote an super-defensive blog in Tracy's favor.

I'd like 30 Rock to get rid of Tracy but I think it will never happen. Which is too bad, it could freshen up the show. But then I think about Griz and Dot.com, characters I like, and I think it would be too bad if they got axed because Tracy Morgan is a homophobic, self destructive jerk. I dislike Sherrie Shepard but generally enjoy her on the show, so I'm not sure how I feel about her character leaving if Tracy gets axed. I wonder if all of the GLBT staff Tina Fey mentioned will be returning to the show if Tracy returns? We're in a recession, so probably they don't have a choice.

I had always said that if I ever got rich and famous I'd hire Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes to help keep me grounded and tell me what was what. I'm not so sure about Chris anymore but Wanda still has the job.
Tracy...wow. That is some serious self-hating going on. That and the kidney story (news to me, I never knew anything about him other than he was a comedian) just dropped him to whatever circle of hell Mel Gibson is hanging out on.

The thing is that they pretty much wrote Tracy out for a good chunk of this season while he was dealing with the kidney stuff - all while keeping Grizz, Dot.com and Jordan. I have no idea how they would manage to do it again.
