Why does she want an award? Same reason anybody wants awards - for validation and recognition of their effort. People like to be appreciated by their peers.
Of course she won't win an Oscar. I think she'd be happy just to be nominated (and not in a cliche "I'm just happy to be nominated" way, but genuinely appreciative of at least getting that far).

I'm wondering why she wants the award. She probably makes more money off of her VitaminWater ad campaigns than most of us will make in a lifetime. If she wants the award because she thinks it's the best performance of her career, than I guess it's worth the money and effort she's throwing into the award campaign. If she wants better and more dramatic scripts to come her way, maybe it would be more worth it and show more commitment to acting if she auditioned. I've heard of big stars auditioning for parts they wanted because the directors didn't see them in it. I guess I'm personally not sure what an acting award would bring her. Even if she won, I think there are younger actresses that would still get a look-in on dramatic roles before her (see Reese, Elizabeth Olsen, Jessica Chastain, Amy Adams, Jennifer L. Kristen S., etc, etc. etc.) and more are being born every minute. There's not a lot of roles for sorority chick-looking 40-somethings. I think she wants the awards to help her get better roles and to at least get looked at for some roles that are passed on by Chastain, etc. There are so few good roles for women in films each year and she doesn't have the clout to get a movie greenlit. This will increase her clout and help her career. I think it makes sense. Personally, I think she's changed her career up in the past few years. She's gone from making dreadful romcoms to making edgier, darker comedies and indies. And she's been great in these movies. Good for her. If you look at a lot of her peers (Debra Messing, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, etc.), they are doing bad tv shows or having minor supporting roles in movies. I know there isn't a chance in hell she'd get it, but I'd love for her to be one of the Ghostbusters in the upcoming female-driven movie. And considering that Keanu Reeves talks about how he can't get cast in movies, I don't find it surprising that Jennifer Aniston might really be struggling to find movie roles.

So do I, actually, and I'm never excited about her at all. But I think she could make a funny ensemble work for her.

I love the idea of her in Ghostbusters. Never thought of her, but sure why not. Jennifer, Melissa, Rebel, Sandra and Kristin. I know there are more ladies to name but that is all I can think of right now.

Kristin Wii? My brain went to Kristen Stewart. Lol.
I also don't get what's so good about Rebel Wilson, but I am open to liking her some day. She might not be my thing though. Same with Melissa McCarthy in funny mode. I'll take Tina Fey and Amy Poehler though. Or like, Gillian Jacobs, Leighton Meester, Yvette Nicole Brown (Community just came on TV, hah. There are talented and funny lady actors on that show!).

I want Retta from Parks and Rec in the Ghostbusters movie.
Topic: I read on Celebitchy this morning that Jennifer has hired an Oscar strategist.

It's not really a big deal since a lot of actors do like Shailene Woodley hired someone too this year, but it didn't seem to work out for her this year. I guess it was just news because she hired Lisa Taback, and Taback use to work with Harvey Weinstein who is the pro at getting his actors/films nominated. I'm not sure if it's a big deal but the "People Magazine Awards" are still trending on Twitter. I'm hoping that the extra publicity will help Michael Keaton beat off his formidable competition for the Oscar and that Aniston does get nominated because I'd rather see her get nominated than Amy Adams or Hilary Swank again right now.
