I actually ended up liking this episode despite never really digging smackhead Sherlock (and thinking the reasons for his self-destruction were a little stupid. Why don't this show's creators ever let him do big things for real reasons, not for some calculated plan?).
And I liked the majority of this episode because it went back to what works - John and Sherlock working together on a case. That's what we need. The two of them working together. That's what made the show work and made most of this episode for me. I'm glad that they didn't drag out their reconciliation.
Man, Toby Jones' character was basically lifted directly from the Jimmy Savile situation, and...barf. I was so grossed out. Especially when he kept going on about how the morgue was his favorite room. Just...no.
I was also not surprised by the twist that John's therapist, his chippie from the bus and Toby's "daughter" with Sherlock was all the same woman because while they did a pretty good job of changing up her looks, that voice. I mean, I know one can't do much to change their voice, but...you can, a little bit. And she's an actress. I also saw the "secret sister" twist as well as soon as Mycroft starting babbling about the mystery sibling.
While I didn't enjoy the twist much, I was laughing because I kept thinking, "John, honey, just fuck Sherlock already. You married the lady version of Sherlock. You then cheated on said Lady Sherlock with the actual Sherlock's sister. Just cut to the chase and go straight to the source. I really think your life will be far less complicated this way."
Wrapping up - Mrs. Hudson is awesome. I'm glad she got a moment to shine.
When will it stop raining shit on Molly? All she had to do this episode is carry out the shittiest task to be done.

I'm glad it's not just me. I thought episode 4.1 was horrific. Worst. Episode. Ever. I never caught on to Mary, and never bought her as a super spy, so her death couldn't come quick enough. I thought 4.2 was problematic, but leaps and bounds above the first episode. Cereal guy was genuinely creepy. Hopefully this is the last we'll see of ghost Mary. And are we going with a sex change for the 3rd Holmes child or what? Why keep saying the other brother?

I loved this last episode. I like Mary but wasn't too torn up about her death in the last episode. This episode kept me on pins and needles. I loved badass Ms. Hudson. And Sherlock's 'relapse' was just to 'save' John. I teared up and then gasped at the end.

Wow. I forgot this was on Sunday. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it. I did actually like ghost Mary more in this episode than any other one she's been in. And did I read the ending right? Is Euros Holmes really Moriarty? Or she works with him?
I'd much rather find a free online link to the new Endeavour, but that's a different story.
One more episode, and I'm okay with that.

She said that she and Toby Jones' character were linked through a "mutual friend", so I'm guessing she just works for Moriarty.

They just need to let that character go..... Can you tell I'm over it?
At least Martin got some good material to work with. And Mrs. Hudson. I've always liked her.

I want to see the careening Aston Martin footage with the theme to "Miami Vice" blaring in the background.

This last episode was insane. I'm not sure what to make of it. It was like a fevered dream. I'm happy about the ending but there were a lot of leaps of faith and suspension of reason the viewers had to accept. Not sure if that was by design...hm.🤔 Honestly not my favorite.
Still want more Sherlock! 😊

Yeah...I didn't care for that. It definitely had the feel of a final episode (and the first time they ended a season without a cliffhanger) and I'm totally fine with them being done. I haven't really enjoyed this show since the second season. This season my thoughts about the show ending went from "Good riddance" (after the first episode) to "I kinda hope they keep doing it" (after the second episode) to "Yeah, just go ahead and hang it up, boys" (after the last episode).
So, Sherlock's secret sister killed a kid because he and Sherlock wouldn't play pirates with her. Okay. Makes sense she'd be locked up after that, and I can even buy that Sherlock would block out the memory of that happening. But he blocked out her entire existence? And apparently his family never, ever mentioned her around him and destroyed every single photograph of her? Even before she "died"? I can see Mycroft never mentioning her, but their parents as well? For, like, 30 years? They really don't seem the type.
Moriarty's "return" was also a big pile of nothing.
And Molly Hooper's life is apparently so shitty that she just sits around her kitchen with her head in her hands contemplating the awfulness of it all. And her only appearance was so she could be emotionally manipulated through her crush on Sherlock, which she, an adult woman and a doctor, has carried around for the better part of a decade, and has not figured out how to move on.
And Mycroft is apparently a bit of a moron. He has a murderous genius of a sister who can manipulate people into doing what ever she wants and he agrees to leave her alone with Moriarty at her request. And he didn't think someone bad would come of that?
Just...meh. This episode had plot holes large enough for a truck to plow through and it yet again did not contain what makes this show work - Sherlock and John bouncing off each other and running around solving crimes. They barely interacted with one another. We were't really shown their relationship, we were mostly just told about it (with Sherlock calling John family). If the decide to do more, they need to stick to Sherlock and John solving crimes. If they don't come back, I'm totally okay with that.

They should just end the series now. This season has been a clusterfuck. I'm over BC's mugging for his audition reel. I miss the actual case of the week formula. Trying to plumb the depths of the Holmes family drama? Crapping on Watson, Molly, and resurrecting Moriarty? Over it. Completely over it.
