Just from the article, it sounds like she had an account because that's what kids do, and thought she was being nice by answering questions or responding to tweets from people who followed her. Then it got out of hand (as it will) with followers becoming more and more demanding, finally calling her names (maybe even threats?) because she only responded to some of the tweets, or didn't respond fast enough.
So she said, "I have a life, Who are you people to judge me? I don't even know you."
I say good for her. She has no one parenting her, so she makes some mistakes, like thinking Twitter fans are her friends. She sounds like a nice person who fell into a "no good deed goes unpunished" rabbit hole.

Does she do anything to warrant the title "celebrity"? Not being bitchy, just wondering. They refer to her as a celebrity in the article but I don't know what she does beyond being MJ's offspring. Also, they call her other sibling Blanket! That's not his true name, is it? I thought he was Prince 2 or something (equally ridiculous). Does he go by Blanket? I bet when he's out and isn't being fun people call him Wet Blanket.

I think if people know your name, you are called a celebrity. The bar for being a celebrity had become very low. "Blanket" personally decided to go by a different name six months ago. He's now Bigi at his new school. So I think, yes, he has always been Blanket.

That's the part I find completely out of whack here. Yes, she's famous due to her unfortunate parentage. But the idea that a 17 year old should be conducting a social media account as if she is an actress or singer who has a reciprocal relationship with the general public is wrong. Any "fans" she has are incredibly creepy weirdos, I would assume. Lily-Rose Depp said recently that she's always had social media accounts that weren't identifiable to the general public as her, which is how it should be for a child.

I don't think she knows any better. She's a teen in 2016, so of course she has social media accounts, but it seems like no one is teaching her how to protect herself and be more private online. Michael Jackson's approach to parenting when he was alive was to keep the kids sheltered to an extreme degree (wear masks in public, school in the home, only meet people in your house), and the rest of the family doesn't seem to be stepping in, so like many teens online it's way too much to process and handle.
It sucks, because she IS is celebrity by parentage, and will always be. She really needs someone who understands and can help her create boundaries and cope and be safe online. I hope she gets there. If she's in AA then she might already have one bad coping mechanism to get over.

And she used an axe? (as I recall) on her wrists a few years ago. I think she is going through some very difficult stuff, exacerbated by a wacko first part of her life and near abandonment in the latter. Prince was old enough to do the adult thing early, and Blanket (Bigi) is young enough that he got actually parenting after Michael's death. Paris had always been just adrift.

Doesn't she live with her mother or close to her now? She's been in rehab or extended care counseling for her issues. I think she's doing better. She thought she owed fans of her father something and rightfully realized she didn't. So she dumped the account and got in with living her life. I applaud her decision to not live by anyone's expectations but her own. At least, that's what I got from her comments.

All MJ weirdness aside, I kinda wonder if she was the favorite and MJs death hit her harder. As a "daddy's girl" that lost my father much later in life, I know I would have struggled had I lost mine at the age she did.

MrF's cousins lost both parents when the oldest son was 17, his sister was 15, and the 3 younger kids were still little. The younger kids were adopted together into the mother's sister's family. The two older kids were adrift. They also got their inheritance really young, at 18. It amounted to about $200,000 for each kid. They are in their 50's now and totally messed up. They didn't finish high school, did drugs, had hanger on friends until the money was gone, and found themselves broke with no education, emotional support, friends or family, by their mid 20's. The girl had a child and was homeless by the time she was 21.
The adoptive family of their younger siblings didn't want them around as bad influences, so they weren't welcome there.
We tried to help, but we were young too, in school, with little kids ourselves. Even kids with great deals of money need emotional support and guidance in their teens.
I'm sure Michael thought he'd taken care of his kids, but there is a big void there.

She was thrust into the public eye because of her father's death, because the masks that she and her siblings wore were removed. Paris has distinctive features so I don't think she can blend into the background even if she wanted to. MJ's uses of the masks may have seen extreme, but if he hadn't died, I think I may never know what any of his kids looked like.
