I am really enjoying Raul Esparza's work this season. Judging by that promo, however, we may not see him for too much longer.

Don't they technically have to keep Chilton alive since he's in the films?

I have a question, when was Will's encephalitis exposed? When he was institutionalized? His team seemed to talk about it casually this season, when clearly Hannibal wanted it to be a strange mystery in S1.

Alana mentioned it as a possibility toward the end of last season (maybe even in the finale) and they confirmed it and apparently have begun to treat it since he's been in prison.

I think Alana discovered Will's encephalitis (or got the ball rolling in that direction) when she had him draw the clock again, when he was in custody.
As for Chilton, I'm really hoping the focus on him in the preview is a fake-out.

Thanks guys! I won't watch the preview but it would suck to bring on Chilton (and the great actor who plays him) and write him off so fast.

Don't they technically have to keep Chilton alive since he's in the films? Beverly Katz was in Red Dragon/Manhunter. But she was much more of a minor character, I don't even remember her from the movies. I don't think they will kill Chilton either way just because if they ever do get to do their version of Silence of the Lambs they will want him to be a part of it.

Welp. That happened. The best detail was<<< Spoiler Hannibal disemboweling the FBI agent for Chilton to find, KNOWING that would really drive him into a full panic spiral. Raul Esparza's reaction was perfect. I legit thought he was going to throw up.
I thought Will's line about Miriam taking Chilton's life was pretty definitive, BUT Bryan Fuller has been hinting on Twitter that it's possible to survive being shot in the face, soooooo..... who knows. I'd love it if this turned out to be a plot to lure Hannibal out, because then at least Crawford's character wouldn't be so frustrating.
>>> In any event, Hannibal continues to be an enormous dick. My other favorite bit of acting was during the Will/Alana scene -- the look on Will's face when he realizes how deep Alana is with Hannibal was great.

I just keep sighing, "Oh, Alana" every time she talks now.
I know they don't have clearance from SotL, but I thought this death was pretty well established. How did it happen in the books?
