I never eat when watching this show. But I do sit there and ponder how to make my meals look as beautiful as Hannibal does.

Yeah, I always marvel at the skill and caring Hannibal puts into his meals and the beautiful results, but then I think "But that's a dude..." The "flounder" in the first episode really grossed me out. How did he prepare human flesh to make it seem like fish?
This show is just gorgeous. I liked how they gave us a visual of Hannibal's heightened sense of smell.
I also liked that Dr. Scully was smart enough to get the hell out of dodge as soon as she dumped Hannibal. I was so afraid that he would kill her.
The show apparently can't get the rights to the the Clarice Starling character, but Beverly has been a decent substitute with Will playing the Hannibal role.

Yes! If they can't get Clarice, I would really love it if they just expanded Beverly's role.

I'm never eating while watching Hannibal. But the show gets me thinking, what type of meal would Hannibal make of me? Filet Mignon? Steak Tartare?
And then in my head I do Hannibal/True Detective crossover, since Rust Cohle has the same sense of smell that Hannibal has.

Apparently, the show is doing really well in the Twitter verison of the nielsen ratings which is great to hear. I love that NBC is having to take more fan-friendly measurements into consideration since the rise of quality television due to AMC, Netflix, and Hulu. They can't squelch great shows (like Hannibal) with impunity just because the antiquated measures of deciding whether a show is worth it don't work like they used to. They can't afford to show crap anymore and it's great schadenfreude.

This week's episode was only okay, but next week's looks like it's going to be so intense. I can't wait!

Yeah, this was definitely an episode meant to set up pieces on the board for future episodes. Still, there were moments; Freddie Loundes hat (I have to commend the actress for wearing that with a straight face). If you go to the AV Club section on The Onion, they are running a series of interviews with Bryan Fuller where he breaks down how they approached putting the episode together this season. It is interesti g this week since he talks about the challenge of doing a legal drama this episode since he didn't have a lot of experience in writing such plots, and never really gravitated to watching legal dramas himself.

Yeah, Freddie's hat and Chilton's cane and Hannibal's suit in the scene where he and Jack are drinking in his office – amazing. No one could pull that Christmas plaid off except Hannibal Lecter.

Man, I love Laurence Fishburne.
I'm still not sure exactly what was going on with the murders in this episode, but I sort of like the idea of Hannibal just having a huge murder tantrum after his testimony failed.

The pouty face that Raúl Esparza pulls while playing Chilton is both perfect for the character and totally hilarious. He's got a pimp cane now, all he needs now is a persian cat in his lap.
