To me, the problem is the Emmy Awards themselves. They are out of touch with the way TV is today. Back in the day, TV began in September and ended in June; now TV goes on all year round, there's Network TV, Basic Cable, Premium Cable, now there's Netflix and Hulu Plus and soon Amazon will join in. The Emmys just haven't changed with the times.

But it's still a popularity contest. Bottom line: They still suck.

I did admire that they are embracing new platforms and Netflix shows got a lot of recognition, but they are still very old fashioned about genre. Orphan Black is a Sci-fi show, and the Emmys LOVE to ignore sci-fi. The Oscars do too, actually (outside of technical awards).
They also love to ignore horror, which is why Hannibal got shut out despite some amazing performances.

Sadly, I'm not shocked Tatiana was overlooked. As kostgard said, it's sci-fi and sci-fi is usually overlooked. BBC America is still new to original programming and don't have the campaign funds other networks have. Plus, I don't really think Tatiana is really cares. Her lack of major award noms seem to bother the fandom, the producers, the cast, and even her boyfriend (Downton Abbey's Tom Cullen in case you were wondering) more than her.
ETA: Was OB nominated for any of the tech awards? Anyone who watches the BTS stuff can see how insanely complicated those multiple clone scenes are. That also deserves awards!

That's bullshit. I'm glad there are other organizations that are more open minded. OB has been ALL over media, it's not like S1, where it was more of a cult hit not known to the mainstream.

Anyone who wants to see Tatiana at around 16 looking like like a 12 yr old Helena and acting a lot like Alison should check out Ginger Snaps Unleashed.
I've had all 3 Ginger Snaps DVDs since they came out around a decade ago but haven't watched them in years. I started watching them again and when I got to Unleashed last night it was an awesome surprise to now recognize Maslany and be shocked/not shocked at how good she was even as a kid.
It's no wonder John Fawcett, who created Ginger Snaps and Orphan Black would want Maslany for Black years later.

I guess this is going to be an unpopular opinion. I just started watching the show and am halfway through the first season and I don't really like it. The premise is good but it's a little too stylized in the way that NCIS and CSI are. Everyone's a little too pretty. I think the acting for Sarah is good but Cosima and Allison are caricatures.
I'll keep watching it because I started it it but I am beginning to rage watch it for all the things that bug me.
ETA: the screeching music and blurring of focus to indicate creepiness is afoot is getting on my very last nerve.
Also, Maria Doyle Kennedy is great.

And the show is back! I thought last night's premiere was a little slow compared to S2's opener but it really started picking up towards the end.
I was really confused when the show first started because how is Helena having a baby shower if she was with the military? Then, it dawned on me this is probably Helena fantasizing about what life would be like if she hadn't be taken. I was right! Getting Helena's view on her other seestras is amusing. "I'm awesome because of science!" I can't blame her for dreaming though. Her current reality is horrifying. I wonder who the scorpion is supposed to represent to Helena. She did say something like "Long time, no see!" to her imaginary scorpion. Whoever it was they clearly were not very nice. Even more horrifying it sounds like this isn't the first time Helena has found herself locked in a box.
I like Sarah but I sometimes I want to slap her. If Dyad had called her up and said, "Hey, we'll give you Kira back if you give us Helena!" she would have given her up in a heartbeat. "That wasn't your bloody decision!" This statement to S is technically true. It should have been Helena's decision. But I have a feeling that wasn't what Sarah meant. Sarah is pissed because S made the call instead of her. I did like Felix defending S and flat out stating he would have traded Helena in exchange for Kira and Sarah. Sarah doesn't want to hear it, of course, probably because that would involve admitting she cares about Helena only when it's convenient. Not to mention facing they are in this current position due to Sarah's impulsive bad decisions.
I've always been meh on Delphine but damn I actually liked her last night! Dumping Cosima was probably the best thing to happen to her character! I much prefer Delphine as a Dyad's little badass then Cosima's puppy. I know Cosima is deeply hurt but honestly last night marked the first time Delphine truly did the right thing. Delphine is right. She can't love all the sisters equally and remain romantically involved with Cosima. Cosima is her blind spot. I understand Cosima is hurt because hey from her view Delphine is choosing her career over Cosima. But Cosima did tell Delphine to love the sisters equally. Honestly, this is the most respect Delphine has ever shown Cosima.
It pains me to say this but Alison's plot was the most boring last night. I really don't care about he running for some school board seat. I do like seeing her and Donnie as more of a team now. I'm actually surprised she took Donnie being fired as well as she did since Donnie's own dumb behavior that caused it. Though what was with her Sarah make up? That is is not how Sarah does her make up. And that wig was WAY too nice to pass as Sarah's hair. Luckily, James Frain didn't notice.
Gotta give lots of praise to TatMas's performances last night! She's always good but Sarah as Rachel gave me even more appreciation for the work she puts into the characters. I like when Sarah is pretending to be another clone TatMas does little things like alter her walk and how her accent is just passable. When Alison started to get nervous her real accent was starting to bleed threw.
I know a lot people were nervous about the Castor clones but so far so good. They definitely hadn't taken over the show and the actor is good in the role.

I still think Tatiana is amazing and I really like individual scenes. I loved the scene where Sarah is playing Rachel and Allison is playing Sarah. But I am finding the overall mythology is getting way too complicated. It reminds me of latter day Alias and X-Files. But Orphan Black is only in the third season, it shouldn't be this convoluted yet. They burn through a lot of plot which is the norm for a lot of shows these days. But I wish they would cut down a little. I felt like by the end of season 2 all the storylines didn't come together in a satisfying way and I have a feeling that is the way season 3 is going to go.
