I had a 'You Know You've Watched Too Much OitNB' moment last night. I was out with a friend and she accidentally broke her sandle. She was wanting to go home and change shoes before going anywhere else when I suggested instead she make herself a pair of sandles out of duct tape since 'Metallics are very in this year!'. She doesn't watch the show and had no idea what I was talking about... and seemed to get more confused the more I tried to explain it. Glad I stopped shy of suggesting she use maxi pads if no duct tape was available...

Sooooo...this is the real LarryI can't put my finger exactly on it but he gives me major douche vibes. That gross way he mentions falling in love with lesbians who in turn fall in love with him, his attendance at Burning Man, his reverence of Piper's waspiness, the I-had-a-gay-roommate-and-wrote-a-paper-on-Cole-Porter so I'm totes down with the gays...it all seems so close in spirit to fictional Larry's annoyingness.

Thanks for the link! I thought it was interesting--I didn't think he came off as TV Larry as much, or if he did, he grew from the experience in the way TV Larry didn't. The article reads like an older guy humbled by life looking back on his younger, douchier self.

Based on what I've read in Orange is the New Black, and how he stood by his girlfriend/wife when all of that stuff went down he seems like a decent guy who may have been a meathead trying to do right in his younger days.

I will definitely say I am blown away by his loyalty to Piper in such a difficult situation, a lot of people might've bailed given the circumstances.

I'm still in the middle of S2, and haven't read the rest of this thread yet, but here's my OMG list: Lorna is crazier than I thought--I knew Christaphuh was more of a figment than reality, but that episode was intense; I hate the writers for making me feel the tiniest bit of sympathy for Fig; Vee is good and terrifying but I kind of need an episode with less Vee for a stretch of time; I wish someone would just spell out what happened between Vee and Red because the suspense is boring me; Larry and Polly suck; waiting for the other shoe to drop with Caputo.

Taylor Schilling, Kate Mulgrew, Uzo Aduba, Laverne Cox and Natasha Lyonne all got Emmy nominations this morning (Mulgrew in Best Supporting, Aduba, Cox and Lyonne in Best Guest) and the show got a nod for Best Comedy. All well-deserved. The Best Guest Star Emmy was presented last night at the Creative Arts Emmy Show and Uzo Aduba won: Link
