My favorite short-short wearing, dancing to the oldies weight loss guru is back on the radar. (But somewhere along the way he's morphed into a doppleganger for my grandma.) Richard Simmons career is getting a boost on the heels of a tragedy. He is special correspondent on ET because he grew up in NO. There is a clip here where he goes to visit his brother. I find it amusing because his brother was nowhere near the Hurricane and looks perfectly fine laying there in his comfy bed. And seriously, wouldn't a phone call have worked just as well? And if you were really that concerned wouldn't you not want the cameras around? But his brother consoling him like he is a little girl is priceless.

I love him. He seems like a very kind and generous person.

You all may not believe me but I've heard that he is really, really gay. I'm not sure what to make of it. [/sarcasm]
ETA: He does seem like a sweet man. Sickeningly sweet at times but I like him for some odd reason.

I think the brother evacuated from New Orleans... so that's genuine that Richard might be so shaken up. BUT... couldn't they have given him notice so he could get out of bed? AND, how can you take that man seriously when he wears that outfit! Please, you're going to see the brother you may have lost -- put on some pants!

He was interviewed by Larry King a few nights ago about the Hurricane. I started laughing- I couldn't help myself. Larry King is all serious, wearing his rainbow suspenders, interviewing Richard Simmons, who was wearing a bedazzled tanktop, about one of the largest natural disasters ever to hit this nation.
It's like bizarro world.

A family friend was on a flight with him and said he acted like a spoiled brat. I want to believe he's nice, but he probably had a nasty side.

Wasn't he in the news for slapping someone in an airport a while ago?

Well, I think most people do have a nasty side, it's just brought out in different ways.
I like him, he does seem to genuinely care about people losing weight.

Hee! I missed that one, but I did see Larry King with electric blue suspenders on the other night, and I kept thinking "Doesn't he have some neutral-colored ones he can break out during times of crisis?"
Again - hee! I have often wondered if he just wears that stuff around the house or only when he's on tv, but I'm pretty convinced that he has bedazzled his entire wardrobe and he owns nothing that hits his leg below the mid-thigh.
Despite the sequins and body grease, I like Richard. He comes across as a bit too earnest at times, but he does seem to genuinely care about people and I think he's still carrying around a lot of pain from stuff that happened to him as a kid.

I've heard that's he's an absolute asshole, a spoiled brat, throwing hissyfits all over the place.
That being said, he HAS helped a lot of people, so that's a good thing.
