Well it looks as if his career may be resurrected. Apparently, he'll star in a Flash sequel on the CW next year. It beats waiting table, or playing Biff in a Dinner Theater production of Death Of A Salesman, but not exactly the A-List movie career he probably envisioned 10 years ago.

He's been on TV a lot, so that's probably a better fit for him. It helps when he can inject some humor into his performances. Rather than play the hot guy, he seems to do better playing the nerd who just happens to look like a hot guy.

The role originated on Arrow. It was a season of hit and miss, but they pushed ahead with the spinoff regardless of the audience reception. There's hope they write him better on the spinoff, Legends of Tomorrow.

Gretchen, stop trying to make Brandon Routh happen. It's not going to happen.

Ahh. I kinda have a soft spot for him. He's harmless, and got put into a no win situation. He was pulled from obscurity (by pervy Brian Singer) to fill an icon's shoes. No one, not even a master thespian could live up to the anticipation that was mounted on his shoulders. The movie was a trainwreck. An awful story-line, and a complete shit-show execution by the director. The horrific miscasting of Lois Lane. A(nother) hammy/bad performance from Kevin Space. Complete misuse of James Marsden, and a baby Superman that was almost as bad as the kid from the Phantom Menace. I still can't watch the entire thing.
Routh was one of the best parts of Scott Pilgrim. He's quietly built up his resume, and carved out a steady check for himself. Good on him. I hope he succeeds.

Yeah. He seems sweet and able to laugh at himself. His performance in Scott Pilgrim killed me. And he did a VERY good impression of Christopher Reeve in Superman Returns (which is what he was supposed to do, since it basically retconned Superman 3 and 4, and was a continuation of Donner's Superman 2).

I thought he was hilarious as the "straight" man to Justin Long in Zack and Miri Make a Porno .

That movie was terrible, but Routh was the least of its problems. I actually thought he did well in the "dorky Clark Kent" scenes; he does seem to have a surprisingly good sense of comedy. I'm glad he still seems to have a career.

That whole Superman movie was a problem and Routh was actually the least problematic thing with it (sans Marsden). I'm still shocked that someone thought Kate Bosworth would be a good Lois Lane.
He definitely was never going to be a big breakout movie star though, he simply isn't charismatic enough for that.

I don't think one way or the other about Brandon Routh or his career, I was just chomping at the bit to use that line.
