I'll probably watch again, mostly to see the non-Kardashian moments, like her hanging out with other trans women, and I wonder if Candis Cayne is really asking her out or just a friend proposing they have dinner. I thought Candis liked men, so I just did some googling. She lived as a gay man before transitioning, and the article in Out from 2009 talked about her relationship at the time with a heterosexual man. So my guess is that it's as a friend.

I think you're right and the show was just trying to create some drama/interest with the promo. After I posted I saw some rag yesterday (Daily Mail, maybe) that was all, "Are Caitlyn and Candis dating?!" and there was a quote from Candis's rep that was basically, "Candis dates men and Caitlyn is a woman, so...no." I wouldn't be surprised if Caitlyn has a bit of a crush, though. The same rag had video of the two of them dancing at a Boy George concert and Caitlyn seemed a bit smitten. But she could just be really happy at this point in her life.

I'm watching the show mainly to see Jennifer Finney-Boylan, because I just love her. She is on the show to explain to Caitlyn about Caitlyn's privilege and how that differs from almost every other trans person. She does this carefully and in small doses, but she's very good. And yes, getting your own show with several experts/scholars from the trans world to help educate you is part of that privilege. There was a bit where they were having a round table discussion about how trans people get fired as repeatedly when their employers learn that they are trans, and how they depend on social services, and Caitlyn listened but then she started talking about when people have access to help they make more than they could working, so they decided not to try to work, blah, blah, blah. I think she's going to have to stop being a Republican if she wants to do this right. I don't know if she is really willing to hear how other people live or not.

Caitlyn needs to at least be the kind of Republican who doesn't buy into the "welfare queen" myth, which she so clearly has. I hope this was something of a wake-up call for her. Her jaw kinda dropped when one of the ladies confessed to turning to sex work because she kept getting fired from jobs for being trans, and she had no other alternative.
Chandi was kinda awesome. She had no time for Caitlyn's BS.
J-Bo (heh) was awesome too. I hope she can shed some light on a lot of things for Caitlyn.
Does Kim have to be in every episode? And who was the gal who came in with Kim? They didn't identify her, so I'm assuming I'm supposed to know who she is.

Again, Kim is there for the 'beauty' portion of the show that is, as Jenny Boylan stated, is not the important issue. And the girl with Kim was Malika, Khloe's friend/assistant. I guess she needed face time since KUWTK is on hiatus. I don't know, I can't decide how I feel about this show. I hate that I almost feel like Caitlyn is paying lip service to some of the major issues the transgender community faces.

I think she's going to have to stop being a Republican if she wants to do this right. So LGBT people are only supposed to be Democrats? What if they're pro-life and prefer small government? What if they want to keep most of what they earn? So much for "diversity!"

Well, first off, you can't be pro-small government and also be pro forcing your views on when life begins onto other people, so those are mutually exclusive political views. Secondly, the Republican party has not been about small government for a long time. Finally, I think it was made pretty explicit upthread that trans people are disproportionately affected by lack of social services (and obviously for trans people of color or disabled trans people the impact is even greater). Now, you can either support such services or not, but I do not know of any country that adequately provides those services without higher tax rates--the other models I see suggested (i.e., those services should be left to churches or charities) have not been proven workable.
So while LGBT people certainly do not HAVE to be Democrats, I do not see how being Republican serves them very well.

Catching up on "I am Cait." For me the weirdest thing is seeing Caitlyn's sister and realizing that she has Kylie's old face.

TMZ is reporting that L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. concluded their investigation regarding the fatal car crash she was involved in and found that she violated the vehicular manslaughter law and will send the case to the D.A.

Hopefully she gets prosecuted like anyone. But she is famous so probably nothing will come of it.
