Unfortunately, there will always be a tabloid aspect attached to Bruce's story due to his connection to a family whose fame is built on tabloid coverage.
But I think the other issue at play at the moment is that we haven't heard anything straight from the horse's mouth yet, so it is all rumors and speculation at this point. Once Bruce steps in front of the camera and explains his journey, I think it will die down. But I think there will still be elevated interest because he's a Transgender celeb people knew before the transition. People like Laverne Cox became famous after the transition, and others like Chaz Bono weren't huge stars that every Joe in America is familiar with. Older people know Bruce from the Olympics and Wheaties and younger people know him from KUWTK. We've been watching this transition in real time. I don't think that's happened before.

None of the Kardashians will fart until Kris makes sure there is a contract signed with E! for the reality show about it. This is just the first time Bruce has had anything to offer. There will always be a crass aspect to this. I'm sure Bruce will portray it as a noble thing that he's choosing to transition in front of the cameras, and the end result might have a positive impact, but the commercialization of it is no different than any of the other Kardashian spin-offs.

She believes he's thirsty for the attention the women in his life get. I'm not getting a famewhore vibe from Bruce. The impression I got is that Kris is driving the publicity train, no? I think if he really want to get tongues wagging, he'd done something more with Angie Everheart. One thing that would help would be to disassociate his journey from the Kardashians. I know the girls love him, but it's not about them. It's not about Kris. This is his life and I really don't need an article about Kanye or Scott's reactions to the news or how Kim checked on Kris or any of that. I wouldn't mind seeing and hearing from Kendall and Kylie as they are his kids. Kim's commentary may be useful only if she were to speak to how she may explain it to little North West (as a teachable moment). Do we really need to hear much from Kris though? ETA: None of the Kardashians will fart until Kris makes sure there is a contract signed with E! for the reality show about it. This is hilarious and so true.

“It would be great to have celebrities who are respected going through gender transitions,” said Dr. Katherine Rachlin, a psychologist and gender specialist in New York. “I don’t know if this falls into that. The whole thing seems pretty tabloid to me.” Oh man, screw this person. Maybe instead of wishing for some "respectable celebrity" to publicly transition, why don't we focus on how all the buzz over what's going on with Bruce Jenner highlights just how transphobic the media is. There's a circus around it because magazines frame it like a circus. Bruce hasn't spoken yet, but we have to deal with tabloids merging his face with Madeline Albright. And mocking Bruce's physical appearance/attire. And now this gender specialist is bitching about how they wish it was Daniel Day Lewis or Hilary Swift. Please. ETA: To be clear, Prisma did not say that. I am trying and failing to quote from the NYTimes article she quoted.

The way I see it here's a chance for a reality personality to do something serious for the first time since his Olympic medal and maybe rise above the Kardashian tabloid nonsense. I'm hoping this will ultimately be a good thing for Bruce/Belinda(?) and the trans community.

Beyond psyched for Bruce. I cannot begin to imagine the stones it takes as an Olympic gold medallist and a member of that 'family' to bare your heart and soul so honestly.

It was a fascinating trip down memory lane about pre-Kardashian Bruce. On some level I kind of loved the part where he was like "Screw it, I just set a completely insane athletic record, I've earned the right to go full-on camera whore." I mean hey, you do you, Bruce.

This bit made me laugh. That is their list of "interesting" things the Kardashians are doing? And would they be doing these if they weren't already famous? For just being famous? You know what I did today that was interesting, by this definition? I ate lunch, and did some work at my job. I wiped up vomit from the bathroom floor.

Kendall gets some points for being a model and doing her own thing.
Wow, Kim's now also known for being married to Kanye; how is that different for being famous for being famous? She's still a socialite!
