To all those who commented on her scary visage, check this out. The picture in the lower left hand corner is very Wildensteinian.

Maybe I am evil but I also found the Kate Winslet comments and Costner's wife comments funny. It's not even really that Kate is fat (she's not, she seems average size to me) but it's become this huge taboo to say anything about Kate Winslet's weight and there's this part of me that admires JR for just calling that one out straight up. Well, it hasn't really been taboo to call Winslet fat, I've heard it a lot. it's an easy shot. It still makes me mad each time, because, she's far from fat, so I can't really see how it's calling one straight up. She has had a hard life, yes, but JR doesn't seem strong to me, just like a really, really insecure woman, who has to attack others looks while transforming her own looks into something non-humanlooking.

Nobody wants to think that the old bag had sex or is having sex. Just gross.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I love the old bag.
And word to Guinastasia about not wanting a diamond. If I were a woman I wouldn't want a diamond that had been mined under oppressive conditions like what has gone on in many African diamond mines in recent years. I'd sooner take a ring made out of aluminum foil.

I didn't mean that calling Winslet fat was the thing that she was calling 'straight up' I just meant that I think Joan Rivers likes to get people's panties in a bunch and I can't help liking that, just a little, and in an evil way.

Yes, she clearly has issues. Anyone who messes with her face as much as Joan has clearly has issues. In fact, I was watching this sort of roundtable discussion with a bunch of people who had plastic surgery, and they were giving reasons why they did it. Every single one of them said it was because they were teased about their looks as kids and years later, were still haunted by that teasing. None of them said it was because they wanted to change something they (personally) didn't like. I know not everyone who gets plastic surgery is this way, but all these people had had multiple procedures done, not just a nose job or a face lift. Only one on the panel said she was happy with her looks now and wasn't going to have any more surgery - the rest of the table just stared at her in stunned silence, then started in on the whole "What happens when you get old??? Surely you'll have a face lift or at least Botox!!"
Those people just reminded me of Joan. I think she can be funny, but I think she's still dealing with some pain or issues, and that's why she keeps cutting up her face and is afraid to gain an once. It could also be why she's a bit of a bully.
She can land a good zinger now and again, but I find her schtick tiresome. And Melissa just needs to stop riding her mother's coattails and go away. She has no talent of her own. But I did find it hilarious when I heard that those two were banned from the red carpet at some awards show and basically had to stand behind a bunch of potted plants (this was either right before or right after they left E!).

Did anyone see the clip of her from this year's Emmys when she got pissed because Bobby Lee did an interview with someone else before her. Yes, Bobby Lee. Someone who is totally not famous at all (he's on Mad TV, for the slew of you who have no clue who he is). He was talking with someone from one of the entertainment news shows when Joan shouted something over to them, then she said something rude to whoever was interviewing him, then she turned to the camera and said something like "Fine! There wouldn't be the Red Carpet if it wasn't for me!"
Jimmy Kimmel ran a clip of the whole thing on his show. Then he said something like "Yes, Joan Rivers invented carpet 573 years ago to line her cave."

All that plastic surgery and she comes out looking like the offspring of a plucked chicken and a skinned lizard.
The comment about Kate Winslet was nasty because first, Kate is NOT fat.* Second, and more importantly, it just goes to show how fucked up the Hollywood beauty ideals are. A normal, healthy figure like Winslet's is considered fat. She said the SAME THING about Alicia Silverstone a few years prior to that. Look, you're supposed to be snarking on celebs for their FASHION mistakes. Not their PHYSICAL condition. If she wore a dress that made her LOOK horribly fat and frumpy, that's one thing. But saying she was fat? Uncalled for. Especially since she apparently has issues with being teased about her looks as a child.
*She was, however, overweight as a child, and still had a lot of issues about it. She was only starting to come to accept herself and not care what other people think, and then Rivers had to snark on her.

Where is that quote from? Because I don't buy it. She used to be on Stern alot (yeah, I'm a fan - shoot me) and she used to rag on him to get out his marriage, because she regretted staying faithful to Edgar in her youth and getting married earlier.
I did! I adore Bobby Lee - he is my favorite Mad cast member now.
It wasn't just Rivers. James Cameron called her Kate "Weighs-a-lot" on the set of the Titanic. It's a testament to Kate that she did not go the Kate Beckinsale route and succumb to pressures to have the Hollywood standard body.

I don't believe it's true, but I believe she said it, and I think that's a really funny comeback even though I know not to take it seriously. I laughed at the Kate comment more because I remember thinking the scene from Titanic in question was so corny, after it seemed to have been built up as one of the saddest in movie history. I also liked it when Joan said Beyonce's earrings at the Oscars this year looked like Doritos.
