Crap. Now I have to like Jay Leno for at least 5 minutes. Maybe 10. Just another reason this whole situation is all sorts of fucked up.

Seriously! Jay Leno "gets it" and Dr. Huxtable is a rapist. Down is up, up is down.

I still don't like him, but I respect him for being willing to stand up.

Sorry I can't add the link for some reason. Cindra Ladd, Hollywood executive says BC drugged and raped her in 1969.

She said she didn't go to the police because of his status and date rape wasn't considered a crime back then. Damn, that is so sad.

That is very similar to the story I read about the woman with whom Cosby was in a consensual relationship, but he still drugged and raped her. She didn't report it and didn't think it could be rape because she was in a relationship with him.

The 70s?

I was going to say, marital rape wasn't considered a crime until well into the 80's. Then went to check facts.
The "movement" to make marital rape a crime started in the mid 1970's. Most states didn't amend statutes until well into the 1980's. And it was still not law in all 50 states until 1993. So not all that recently.
I remember the Farrah Fawcett movie "The Burning Bed", which was remarkable for 2 things, one that she let herself look so bad in a movie (according to media), and that it really showed how devastating spousal abuse could be. It was very controversial at the time, and that was 1984.

And how often today are women told, "You're dating him, it can't be rape?" At least now the law might take a chance on listening.
