I am not one to defend rapists. But how firm are these rape reports anyways? From what People says, of the 5 ladies they interviewed:
"None of the women ever contacted police with their stories, either at the time of the alleged assaults or in the years leading up to Constand's revelations, and two of the five women reached by PEOPLE allowed Cosby to pay part or all of their travel and/or living expenses for some time. Three accepted cash from him years after the incidents, and two even went on to have consensual relationships with him."
Don't get me wrong. We are quick to judge him (as well we should be, that's our job here) but I think there might be some percentage of truth to apply to the assumption that he's a stone cold rapist.

Yeah, I hear you. But I think this stuff is pretty damning: From the same article from 2006: SourceAlso, this story is blowing up now for some reason, but I have been hearing whispers about this stuff for 30-something years. At this point I almost feel like it's like the Michael Jackson issue. There's no hard proof, other than the words of victims who have spoken out. But I just don't have a hard time believing it, as this is something that has spanned so much time and the stories are all so similar.

Speaking of Michael Jackson, this portion of one of Katt Williams's stand-up specials (from 1:05 up to 1:35) about MJ (and Whitney Houston!) could apply here to Bill Cosby as well.

I just read about that! Out of touch much? ETA: And so it begins... This was INCREDIBLY fucking tone deaf. But you can't even really blame him/his PR people for expecting that this pesky story will dissolve once again. It always has.

I am going over to Twitter right now! I am here for this epic dragging! ETA: This is one of my favorites; it's so appropriate.

I know this isn't the right thread but I will ask anyway. So Bill Cosby's rape issues are now gaining ground. Why does Sean Penn have a career and there were rumors that Bill Murray beat his ex wife. what changed so that Cosby's rape allegations are now being looked at?

wilbert - For that matter, I heard Billy Bob Thorton beat his third wife (the one before Angelina). Old Bill really must be made from Teflon. If he were a regular citizen, he'd probably be locked up for a long time. Maybe the only thing that'd blackball him would be murder. Comment on the BuzzFeed post:

Sean Penn's thing was a scandal at the time. And I see kids who know what happened on the internet all the time in his posts on ONTD. But it's not discussed in the media. I do think he could face controversy again, but not while he's making money for movie studios. Same deal with Josh Brolin, Michael Fassbender, and a ton of other actors.
