I haven't seen Elizabeth yet, damn me. Oh, Guin, you have to see it! It's an amazing movie, and she's wonderful in that role. Count me in as one of many Ms. Blanchett's fans. Her Veronica Guerin is one of the best movies ever. And not a bit of a famewhore in her.

What is that 2nd one? Galliano? Too fussy with the bows and the draping isn't totally flattering.
She usually looks fabulous though. I like her style -- she's willing to take risks and clearly has a sense of what looks good on her.
I love her voice too.

Love, love, love her.
I think she is one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen. I don't know why, exactly - she's actually kinda funny-looking and her features, when taken seperately, aren't that great. But somehow she is just totally beautiful in this other-worldly kind of way.
I am looking forward to the Elizabeth sequel. I loved her in that movie.
Exactly - she's had a few misses, but it is mostly hits, and even though they are risky, they look good on her. I wish more starlets would pay attention to that. They all wear this weird stuff to be different and on the cutting edge of fashion. But "different" and "cutting edge" do not always equate "looks good" and "flattering." You may be on the edge of fashion, but it doesn't change the fact that you look like warmed-over poo.

I would recommend Little Fish. The acting was superb and I really liked the way it was filmed. I'm always impressed when actor continues to support and work in their home country's film industry.

I just saw her in Charlotte Gray and she was fabulous. She's one of those actresses I always forget about until I see her in something. She really is an amazing actress.

I like her work and I agree that she is an arresting screen presence.
But why is her sophistication, natural hauteur and tendency to closely guard her privacy applauded as classy and attractively adult, but those same qualities in other actresses are called the actions of snotty, snobby, standoffish, bitchfaces?
I like her as an actress. I just don't see the supernal beauty who is supposedly the second coming of Meryl Streep.
I think that both she and Kate Winslet get free rides all over the place and that people who are reluctant to get on board the Cate and Kate love train, are seen as quite insane.
Obviously, YMMV.

I personally think she's really, really unattractive. And she completely did not deserve the Oscar for her imitation portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator. That being said though, I want to see Elizabeth because I'm pretty confident Gwenytt doesn't deserve an Oscar but by all accounts Cate is actually a good actress, though I wouldn't know from The Aviator. I can't think of a character that annoyed me more in recent memory. It was so over the top and irritating to me, though, to her credit, the irritation tapered off after the beginning of the movie. It was like she seemed to understand the character more and not rely on skills of immitation.

That was totally a makeup Oscar from the Academy after dissing her for Elizabeth. As far as her protrayal of Hepburn, it was intended to be over the top on the beginning as that is supposedly how Hepburn was "in real ife." She acted like one of her roles until you got to know her.

I think it's because Kathryn Hepburn was so irritating and over the top in real life. :-)
I think she's marvelous, but often wonder if she and Tilda Swinton are the same person. I think Orlando and see Cate, and Elizabeth and see Tilda.

Fish robbed Cate of the Oscar.
That is all.
